Big C Supercenter Phuket — Attraction in Wichit

Took my laptop to the big repair place on the bottom level of Big C "MAC & Windows". I was quoted and given a receipt for 2500 baht for the repair. On the 4th day when it was finished they told me it would be 500 extra because of "extra work". I was told that if I did not pay the extra money they would damage the electrical part of the computer so that I would have to get it repaired again. I was quoted 2500 for this job in a repair place just outside of KATA near the shooting range so it seemed they were just out there to squeeze me for money.

Out of principle, I called the police and while we waited an hour for them, the repair guys told me that the police would confiscate my computer away and put drugs inside my pockets and arrest me. The police, who spoke no English, listened to the Thais and told me "Money or go police station!" even though I showed them the 2500 receipt. I have been to several shopping malls within Phuket, to me Big C is one of the best ever malls I visited in or outside Thailand. The mall is well organized, the first floor contains mainly IT shops such as mobile shops (selling and repair in addition to accessories), computer shops and electronics shops. Also, there are several clothing shops, make up shops, several restaurants and kids play zone. On second floor there are restaurants and KFC is there as well, pharmacies, beauty shops, mega store and, ladies accessories and many ATM machines located around shops at second floor. This mall has products at excellent prices. It was the last mall I visited at phuket and I could say it has best prices. It’s well organized too. People there are friendly and they don’t bite people or disturb them trying to get them inside store like the case of mobile shops in other countries. This is a complaint about the staff in the electronic department. Unfortunately, around 80% of the Bluetooth speakers that I wanted to hear were not charged. This made it impossible to test the quality of their sound and comparing them. I did point it out and informed the employed, responsible personel, but without any luck. The staff were in big number, but did not care and we're more occupied with their cell phones and checking the looks of their eyebrows in the mirrors.

The few speakers that did work were impossible to hear because of all the noise coming from many other, bigger electronic equipments like televisions, PAs, stereos, etc, that were blasting different tunes in the air without anybody's attention.

It really is regrettable and annoying because the selection of the Bluetooth speakers was actually quite good.
