This review is based on an actual purchase and experience shipping to the US. We visited Sultan Ceramics in June 2019 and bought several items. We negotiated with the manager to get a discount. The items were shipped to us in Michigan by DHL. We received notification from DHL that duties were due prior to release of items. Sultan did not warn us duties would be charged when we purchased. I won't hold that against them too much since I should have been a more informed consumer. However, on invoices enclosed for shipping, the original price of the items was documented which was about 25% higher than what we paid. Thus duties were imposed on the original cost of the items. So we had to pay a higher duty. My wife and I tried multiple times to contact the manager to provide us a more accurate invoice so we could have some the duty paid returned. The manager initially stated he was on vacation and when he came back he would rectify the issue. It was never rectified and Sultans won't reply to our messages via email or whatsapp anymore.
I wanted to share this experience so others are informed when they shop at Sultans. I gave Sultans 6 months to rectify things before posting a negative review. They are very friendly when you are there and impress you by the pictures of famous people who have visited their store, but they will ghost you if any issues arise. I think you can get similar items for cheaper in the Istanbul...

My group and I stumbled upon this gem while exploring Göreme National Park. Our taxi driver recommended us to visit Sultan Ceramics and we’re so glad we took his advice. As a ceramics enthusiast my expectations were high and this place didn’t just meet them it exceeded them.
The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We were given a guided tour where they showcased an extensive collection of ceramics and explained the history and craftsmanship behind each piece. The variety and quality of the artwork were truly impressive with each piece telling its own unique story.
This experience was not only visually captivating but also educational. We left with a deeper appreciation for the art of ceramics and some beautiful pieces to remember our visit. I highly recommend Sultan Ceramics to anyone visiting the area. It's a must-see for art lovers and anyone looking to learn more about Turkish culture and...
Read moreI had a deeply disappointing experience at this ceramic shop in Cappadocia. It’s clear the tour guides are in on some deal, as they herd you into this overpriced trap with no regard for your time or interests. The ceramics were shockingly low quality—uneven glazing, chipped edges, and designs that looked mass-produced despite being marketed as “handmade.” Prices were astronomical, easily triple what you’d pay elsewhere for far better craftsmanship. When I questioned the cost, the staff became pushy and dismissive, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. It’s a classic tourist scam, designed to exploit visitors with no transparency about the kickbacks the guides likely receive. I felt forced to buy, feeling cheated and frustrated. Save your money and skip this place—explore local markets instead for authentic, reasonably priced ceramics. This shop is a blatant cash grab that tarnishes the charm...
