Salkım Şarap Evi is one of those rare hidden gems that captures the soul of Cappadocia. It’s a 300-year-old cave turned wine cellar where you can taste and learn about wines from across the region—and from all over Turkey. The selection is incredibly broad, covering everything from local small-batch producers to well-known Turkish vineyards.
The owners are warm, genuine, and deeply knowledgeable. They love what they do, and it shows—whether they’re guiding a tasting, explaining wine regions, or teaching the craft behind each bottle.
If you notice a bit of dust on the bottles, that’s actually intentional—it protects the wine from sunlight. Don’t worry they will wipe the bottle when you purchase:) The cellar’s naturally cool, stable temperature makes it ideal for proper aging, adding to the authenticity of the experience.
Whether you’re a casual wine drinker or a serious enthusiast, this place is a must-visit in Cappadocia. A beautiful mix of history, hospitality, and...
Read moreLove this place! The two of us went for a last minute wine tasting in March - we called the wine house and less than an hour later, Erdi met us there and gave us all sorts of wines to try. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about wines - how they are made, how and why they taste how they do, what flavours compliment different wines - and his enthusiasm for the subject really shone through. While we sampled wines and told him what we thought of them, he learned the flavours we enjoyed most and tailored the tasting to suit. Afterwards we bought some of our favourite wine there and as a nice little touch he stuck a QR code on each bottle which contained a recommended playlist to go with the wine!
The wine house itself is a quaint little cave with two main rooms that are lined with wine on both sides and they have a very good selection that definitely caters for everyone :-) I'd definitely go back here when...

As a WSET3 wine enthusiast, I found Salkim Wine House to be fantastic. With an experience in wine making, the owner is able to provide so much information on each bottle in his shop. I learnt so much about local Turkish grape varieties, wineries in Cappadocia and just wine in general. Overall, the tasting was as fulfilling as a tasting course at a world-class winery.
The staff is also very accommodating. We had a fun time in addition to learning so much.
This tasting room also makes its own (good) liquor, which is a high bar even for a...
