Gaziantep Müzesi

Şehit Kamil,Kamil Ocak Caddesi Gaziantep'te ilk müze 1944 yılında hizmete girdi. Daha sonra Nuri Mehmet Paşa Camii'ne 1969 yılında ise bugünkü Arkeoloji Müzesi'ne taşındı. 2005 yılında Zeugma'da bulunan mozaik ve freskleri teşhir etmek amacıyla hemen bitişiğinde yeni bir bina daha hizmete girdi. Bir galeri ile geçilen eski binada ise tarih öncesi çağlardan başlayıp İslam dönemine kadarki döneme ait eserler sergilemektedir.

Gaziantep Museum

Martyr Kamil, Kamil Ocak Street The first museum was opened in 1944 in Gaziantep. Afterwards, in 1969, he moved to Nuri Mehmet Pasha Mosque and he moved to present-day Archeology Museum. In 2005, a new building was immediately opened next to the mosaics and frescoes in Zeugma. In the old building which is passed by a gallery, it exhibits works from the prehistoric times to the period of Islam.

Gaziantep, Anadolu'nun ilk yerleşim yerlerinden biridir ve uygarlıkların doğduğu Mezopotamya ile Akdeniz arasındadır. Sakçagözü, Zincirli, Karkamış, Yesemek, Dülük, Zeugma(Belkıs) gibi yerleşim yerleri bölgenin kültürel ve siyasi yapısının tarih öncesi çağlardaki gelişime tanıklık eder. Bölgede hakimiyet kuran ilk karlılık, Merkezi Halep'teki Halpa Krallığıdır. Büyük Iskender'in ölümünden sonra bölgenin tamamı gibi Gaziantep çevresi de Selevkos Krallığı'na dahil oldu. Ardından Kommagene topraklarına katılan bölge, uzun bir süre Roma Imparatorluğu'na bağlı olarak varlığını sürdürdü. Bizans egemenliği sırasında Hristiyanlık yayıldı. Hz.Ömer'in halifeligi döneminde İslam ordularının bölgeyi ele geçirmesiyle halk Müslümanlığı kabul etti. Malazgirt Savaşı'ndan sonra Selçuklular'a bağlı bir Türk Devleti kuruldu. Moğol istilasında yıkılan kente Dulkadirogulları ve Memlukler yerleşti. Mercidabık Meydan Savaş'nın ardından Osmanlı Imparatorluğu'nun yönetimine giren kent, bu dönemde üretim, ticaret ve el sanatlarında ilerledi. I.Dünya Savaşı sonunda İngiliz ve Fransız işgaline uğradı. Antep 11 ay boyunca işgale direndi ve gazilik unvanı aldı. İpek Yolu üzerinde bulunan Gaziantep'in günümüze ulaşabilen en çarpıcı tarihi eserleri Hitit, Roma ve Osmanlı dönemlerine aittir.

Gaziantep is one of the first settlements in Anatolia and it is between the Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean where civilizations were born. Settlements such as Sakçagözü, Zincirli, Karkamış, Yesemek, Dülük and Zeugma (Belkıs) witness the development of the cultural and political structure of the region in prehistoric times. The first profitability in the region is the Halpa Kingdom in Central Aleppo. After the death of Great Iskender, the region of Gaziantep as well as the entire region was included in the Kingdom of Seleucus. The region, which joined the Commagene territory, continued for a long time depending on the Roman Empire. Christianity spread during Byzantine rule. When the caliphate of Hz. Ömer took over the region by the Islamic armies, the people accepted Islam. After the Battle of Malazgirt, a Turkish State was established under the Seljuks. Dulkadirogullari and Mamluks settled in the city destroyed in the Mongol invasion. The city, which came under the rule of the Ottoman Empire following the battle of Mercidabik Meydan, progressed in production, trade and handicrafts. At the end of World War I, the British and French invaded. Antep has resisted the occupation for 11 months and received the title of a veteran. The most striking historical artifacts of Gaziantep on the Silk Road belong to the Hittite, Roman and Ottoman periods.
