Basically go, it’s well worth it.
Museum complex of 22 individual houses containing specific storytelling.
An impeccable blend of history and technology with wonderfully and respectfully restored 19th century buildings- I’m actually going to look up the architects.
A particular thank you to Miryam (?) who acted as a guide around the Maktoum palace.
Personal highlight were the House of Traditional Healthcare and The House of Perfume.
I’d say it’s family friendly as they have interactive exhibits that I’m sure children would love.
Very happy to wonder around the area, very helpful security to guide one from building your buildings.
I was there around happily for around 5 hours, if you are in a rush and don’t savour information you could probably dash around in about 1h 30, but that would be a pity.

Harmonic minimal design with a respectful and delicate dialogue with the older vernacular architecture that create an impressive contrast of the best of both worlds. There are many different technological tools that make the user experience unique and very rich. I was a bit concerned in how the museum was empty after this quality and restless effort and investment done. I hope people that visit Dubai find this place and discover how Dubai is much more than the...
Read moreThis is the biggest pavilion in the museum. Dubai’s location makes its development to be closely interwoven with water: The Gulf and Dubai Creek have long been the city’s getaways to other global cultures. This exhibit does a good job of telling the story through the lives of Emirati people most connected to the sea: Fishermen, merchants, pearl divers, shipbuilders, and the like. You are met with all the blue as you enter the exhibit. It is a nice contrast to the mainly sand colored museum’s premises. As you walk through the dimly lit hall, the state-of-the-art installations let you dive in deeper into Dubai’s close relationship...
