A packed and varied market - one of Wales’ best - which stretches through the main market building and out the back door, descending the steps and heading back almost as far as Morrisons.

We attended the Tuesday retail market, and the offerings were wide ranging - a music stall, numerous food stalls including a grocer’s, a butcher’s lorry complete with demonstrations and an excellent baker, offering lots of treats you’ll have a hard time finding anywhere else - I went for the chocolate orange brownie, which was heavy but delightfully moreish. Elsewhere, the other stall fare included a Singaporean street food place, while there were some bargains to be had on the bulk buy and cut-price cupboard-filler stalls.

Of course, the tat that only a grandmother would love also got its fair share of representation too. With different market types on different days of the week, making multiple visits is near essential, and you get to enter one of Abergavenny’s most iconic buildings in...

I've lived in Abergavenny All My Life. And in all the years I've been coming in to the market I've Never Known the Market to be so Quiet. The last several years the market has gone down the pan MASSIVELY. Fewer and Fewer Traders are coming and setting up on a Tuesday than before. It's got to the point Where it's just the same Fewer Traders Same junk same setup spot Different week. This time several years ago by 8:45 9:30 the market would have been Buzzing But the Market is Dying and if things don't change RAPIDLY FAST There won't be a market here much longer. sorry but the truth hurts. And also the loss of the CATTLE MARKET...

What an amazing market all independent stalls but exceptional quality. It has cafes, clothes and cakes through to art and fossils and so much more in-between. Disabled access is a bit tight, but only because this market is hugely popular, so it gets busy. But it's well worth a visit. Will definitely visit again it's worth the time taken to get there.

Great market - friendly sellers. Lots of items to browse from Welsh blankets to local cheeses. We’re really excited for the flea market on Wednesday.

A historic market hall, decorated with hanging animals that change when the food festival arrives. It is busy with fresh veg, cheeses, herbs, spices, freshly baked cakes, clothes, sweets, craft goods and more plus a great coffee stop from the Espresso Bar. Depending on the day, depends on the stalls but well worth a wander and a visit.
