I've been missing Turkey this year, so the opportunity to try the newly opened Turkish restaurant which everyone has been talking about couldn't be missed.
Every single member of staff was happy to be there and couldn't be helpful enough. The interior has been designed with modern lighting on walls covered in rustic 3d murals of local castles, etc. I can't do it justice in words and wish I'd taken photos.
The original plan of gin and lemonade was halted by a limitation of flavours of gin (lots of brands but all plain) but that wasn't an issue and a bottle of zinfandel was soon being enjoyed.
For a starter we had a hot mezze platter. The garlic mushrooms were missing, but we'd almost finished before we even noticed. Everything was delicious and nothing was left over.
Now you may be wondering why I've given 5 stars if the gin selection wasn't perfect and the starter wasn't as expected? the answer is simple... the main course. The picture attached is the Antolian special plate, a sharing platter for 2-3 people. It could have easily served 4. Every single bite was cooked to perfection, full of flavour, moist and delicious. The chicken wings, chicken shish, lamb shish, kofte, grilled peppers, grilled tomatoes, rice, cous-cous even the side salad was simply perfect. We couldn't finish the plate, not even close, but the staff were more than happy to box it up. I could have eaten more, or walked home, but not both.
We will be heading back there and recommending to all our friends, local and afar. Aside from a mind blowing valentines meal in Holland, this is probably the best meal I've had...
Read moreThis is the same review as I put on tripadvisor but because the people that worked there were so chill I'm going to write it here as well because the more people that go to this place the more people that will also have a good experience like we did, so with that said the review:
The food was incredible, me and my brother were expecting small portions but was very pleasently surprised by how filling everything was, the bread that they served us to dip in these dips were almost addictive, we had to stop eating them because we felt we would ruin our main, this was a wise choice as the main was extremely filling and the meat was incredibly tasty, seasoned to perfection, very tender and succuelnt cuts of meat, and the RICE that was served perfect , we cannot fault the food even if we tried, just this alone I would recommend ANYONE to go in and try it out. For what we ordered, the mixed kebab was priced more than fairly for what you get, a very satisfying meal.
Now! to the staff and hospitality, this is hands down WITHOUT DOUBT the BEST type of hospitality I've ever experienced in a restaurant, it was MUCH more than just the standard "glad you enjoyed, have a good day" type of hospitality, we shook hands with all the staff and had a laugh, even the chef came out and shook our hands, Anatolian gave us an experience like nothing else VERY welcoming, it felt like being surrounded by your mates.
Summary, these guys here went above and beyond, and even gave us a free drink, what more could you want?
TRY THIS...
Read moreVisited the restaurant for the first time to celebrate my daughter's GCSEs. So wish I hadn't gone. Ordered a vegetarian mezze starter which was nice enough. Then we ordered our main meals. Sat there for must have been an hour watching people come in after us, get served, finish their food and have their plates taken away. I spoke to one of the men bringing out the food and then again I spoke to the waitress to ask what was happening. When the food finally arrived, my daughter and sister had a kebab which frankly looked like dog food on their plate (mostly left). I had ordered a vegetarian moussaka. I had one mouthful. Salty, sludge that was tasteless and inedible. I then decided enough was enough and asked for the bill. They rightly so deducted my meal off the bill given that it was uneaten and they really had no choice. I dont care about the money. The experience ruined what was supposed to be a celebration with my...
