Decided to come in here with my mum as we heard good things about the place. Walked into the restaurant and there was no one at the front desk. We stood there for a good 10 minutes until we were finally seen to by a gentleman who then took us to our seats. When we sat down, rather than ask us if we wanted drinks, he just gave us a menu and walked off. He then started answering the phones, taking customer orders. We tried to get his attention at least 3 times and we were ignored each time. Instead, he kept taking customer orders over the phone and was serving other people, including two couples who arrived AFTER us.
We were sat there for 30 minutes, not been served so we got up and left (if this was me on my own or with friends, I would have left way sooner but my mum is a pretty patient person like that). This happened on a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant was half full and there was only one member of waiting staff on the floor. This CANNOT be used as a justification in providing poor (or non-existent in this case) customer service. If we had been offered drinks at the start, we would have stayed, and seeing as he was answering the phones taking customer orders, we should have called the restaurant and placed our order.
I will NEVER come to this restaurant again. I will tell every single person I know what happened to us. I wish I was able to leave 0 stars as rating this place a 1 star is far too generous after the way my mum and I were treated (as though we weren't there).
If you want to go somewhere where you will receive excellent customer service, DO...
Read moreThe food was A1 but there is a but! The take away price is the same as the sit down service. Having just ordered a takeaway costing £30 plus and paying via cash card we sat waiting. During this time we ordered two cans of soft drinks because we were thirsty. The charge was £5. On producing the cash card again to pay we were told that they were only prepared to accept a cash card for orders of £10 or more. We did not have any cash so the waitress took the cans back and we were left there thirsty waiting for the takeaway.
Whilst I am aware that there is a charge for using a cash card surely even taking this away from the cost of the two cans of fizzy drinks there was still a very handsome profit margin left at £2.50 a can!
Now is it me or does anyone else think this to be extraordinary!
Unfortunately now since I believe this to be shabby behaviour we will not be patrons at this...
Read moreDo not miss this place, as it is a little tucked away. My wife and I love Italy and this was like eating in a family restaurant in Rome or Bardolino , apart from the weather of course. It is a fairly basic, unassuming place, but the Italian staff are effusive in their welcome and the atmosphere is very congenial. To start we had a sharing platter of various cured meats, cheeses and antipasti, all of which was quite beautiful. For mains, my wife had a sea food risotto, which she described as fantastic and I had Rump Steak, which had been suveed and then pan fried, simply served with chunky chips and a wild mushroom sauce. KNOCKOUT! Soft, succulent, melt in the mouth rump, crispy chips and a gorgeous, rich mushroom sauce. Ummmmmmm! Can't...
