A Disappointing Experience at Barry Island Pleasure Park
I recently had the misfortune of visiting Barry Island Pleasure Park, and I must say it was an incredibly disappointing experience. From start to finish, the park failed to live up to even the most basic expectations, leaving me feeling frustrated and regretful.
First and foremost, the park's facilities were outdated and poorly maintained. The rides appeared worn-out, rusty, and in dire need of repair. It was evident that no effort was made to create a visually appealing atmosphere. The lack of cleanliness was apparent everywhere, with litter scattered around the park and overflowing trash bins.
The staff's attitude was equally disappointing. Their disinterested and unhelpful behavior left much to be desired. It was evident that they lacked proper training in customer service, as they seemed indifferent to the visitors' needs and concerns. I encountered several instances where staff members were rude and unresponsive when asked for assistance.
Furthermore, the pricing at Barry Island Pleasure Park was exorbitant for what was offered. The cost of tokens for the rides felt like a money-grabbing scheme, with one ride costing £7, as the quality and thrill factor of the rides did not justify the inflated prices. It was clear that the park was more focused on money than providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for its patrons.
In terms of safety, the park is a disaster waiting to happen. The ride operators seemed disengaged and uninterested in ensuring the safety of the riders. Safety measures, such as seat belts and harnesses, were either missing or malfunctioning on some rides. This lack of attention to safety is not only irresponsible but also puts visitors at risk.
To add insult to injury, the food options within the park were subpar. The limited selection and mediocre quality left me unsatisfied and longing for better dining options. The prices for food and beverages were unjustifiably high, considering the lackluster taste and portion sizes.
Overall, my experience at Barry Island Pleasure Park was nothing short of a disaster. The outdated facilities, unhelpful staff, overpriced attractions, safety concerns, and subpar food options all contributed to a thoroughly unpleasant visit. I would strongly advise potential visitors to steer clear of this park and explore other amusement options that prioritize customer satisfaction...

Firstly nothing was really open at all. Only a few rides actually manned by hosts and the ones that were manned, the hosts were either standing on their phones looking like they didn’t want to be there for love nor money. Vaping on the ride in site of customers (that’s got to be the worst one) not to mention there wasn’t a staff member in site roaming the park at all to give any assistance at all!
Now onto the prices. I paid £5 for 6 ride tokens under the impression that myself and my girlfriend would be able to go on 3 rides each. WRONG, one ride was 4 tokens!
One of the only two rides I actually went on which was the one with the wonderful host who was standing there vaping without a care in the world, the host didn’t even acknowledge or provide any decent customer service, just told me to sit down and went over to the box, didn’t even check my safety bar, just started the ride and stood looking at his phone not even looking at the ride.
Absolutely awful safety procedures and standards for basic customer service, I have actually worked at a theme park myself, Adventure Island Southend in Essex and I can say I know the basic safety protocols which were not adhered to in any way shape or form and it doesn’t hurt to smile or actually communicate with the customers! You can definitely see the difference in customer care and standards and rules for staff such as not having phones or vapes on rides, if we had done that never would we have got away with it!
Awful value for money! Will not be returning. Would not recommend. A...
Read moreGreat family day out with plenty to do and see. The beaches are great with main beach having easy access for all, including wheelchair accessible. Dogs are allowed on a separate beach or the finger of land jutting out into the sea.
The fair is the main attraction and although it's recently been revamped, it's still a little shabby and expensive for the quality it offers. The kids like the rides and that's what counts. They could do with employing litter pickers and teaching staff some customer service skills.
There's always something going on at Barry Island. Some show or another. Classic cars, motorcycles, live music, entertainment of sorts and so on. Great day out and every time I take my family there, there's something different happening.
Lots of eateries, with chip shops a plenty. Same goes for places selling ice cream. There are the obligatory seaside arcades and value shops, crazy golf and cafes. There's the Quasar laser guns place and a pub too.
There are plenty of local walks and a fun climbing wall which the kids love. There so many things to do and see, it would take a day to list them.
Barry Island is always a great day out, just needs those who visit the place to respect it and other visitors by placing their rubbish in one of the many bins available. Then the place would get five and a half stars.
We love the place and go there regularly with our dog and the kids. We always end up chatting to someone we've never met before and seeing or doing something...
