Had a wonderful time here as we were blessed with beautiful sunshine, it was great with the kids and it wasn't too packed. We got there just before midday and got parking space in the beach car park.
The beach is a sandy beach and it was very clean, kids were able to build sandcastles and splash around in the water. I don't think pets were allowed as I didn't see any for the duration of time we were there. I was able to practice some shots on my camera, some really nice views and would have loved to take some pictures of the sunset.
There were other things to do around but we didn't have time as kids wanted to leave as soon as they came out of the water. There is a pleasure park off the boulevard and plenty of shops around to buy souvenirs or grab a bite.
Parking always seems to be a hassle at most beaches I've been to but this one wasn't the case, at least for the time we got there. If you're staying for an hour, it'll cost you a pound, anything after that till the end of the day is something like six pounds. I soon forgot the machine had relieved me of my coins when I knew we didn't have to worry about the car. If you're lucky you might find some free spaces around but for the peace of mind for a few hours I guess it'll be money worth spending. Once parking was sorted we could relax and enjoy our time there.
In all it was a great day out and would do it again if the...
Read moreVisited august 7, 2022. It is a nice sandy beach with promenade. The water was calm today, no waves, but it is not as clear as other beaches, im sure its not pollution just turbidity from the nature of the geology underneath. Water is cold but had warm spots too, so it is not as cold as tenby beaches. There were life gaurds, no bbq or fire are allowed, pets and dogs are not allowed on the beach from may till end of September, no littering is allowed and their are patrons circling all the time. The peak of tge crowd was from 1 pm till 4 pm, super crowded. There are showers at bith the east and west end also publuc toilets. I found beach chair hires but not umbrella or parasole hire, however there are plenty of shops that sell them, the cheapest is for 12£. Up on the promenade and adjacent streets are lots of restaurants, cafes and ice cream corners, there is also an...
Read moreThe choice of this beech was based on some local recommendations. The travel to this place was done through public transport from Cardiff central. The nearest station to whitmore bay is Barry island. There are regular trains to Barry island. The beech is around 2-3mins walk. The water in the beech is quite murky. I find it difficult to swim for sure. It is a good place to have some sunshine and cool breeze. The beech has gaurds in place to yelp for help in times of need. There are beech chairs for rent. There are quite a bit of fish and chips stores nearby to fill out the tummy. There are bathrooms available for changing dresses and answer nature calls. Overall a good place to spend a day out. Have a...
