Wow! Where do I start? The UKs first Art Gallery & culture dedicated to Spanish Art from the Golden Age. The Haburgs & different versions of depicting of Christ, the virgin Mary & Jesus. Famous artists like alot of work by El Greco & other lesser known artists. There is a sculpture of Jesus created by a woman the only one in the gallery. Bishop Auckland is on the map with the world with the loaning of paintings & vice versa. There are 4 floors and it took my hubby & I 2 & half hours. We were in awe. Definitely will be back. There is a lift to all floors, as a wheelchair ♿️ user is brilliant. The staff were absolutely brilliant and knowledgeable & answered any questions we had, Gill and Jeremy especially. There is a cafe but did not go in this time. Toilets. The cost is £12.95 entrance but carer goes in free, you need to show proof. Again, an absolute wow factor. There is parking outside, but as a blue badge holder parking is free...

I didn't really expect much of this gallery but my, was I surprised. As I didn't expect a great deal I left visiting the gallery until the end of my day in Bishop Auckland and only arrived ~40 minutes before closing - this was a mistake.
I should have given it a good few hours to walk round and savour all the very well displayed range of artworks.
If you like art then this is a must visit in which you would be well advised to allow at least a couple of hours, maybe more, to enjoy the Art on display.
I would also recommend the purchase of the very well illustrated book "The Spanish Gallery" which is well...
