My second time eating here, and both of us really enjoyed the breakfast of Eggs Benedict, and a Full English Breakfast. For the English breakfast, the bacon was of great quality with good thickness, and cooked just enough. The black pudding was very flavoursome and moist but firm, the mushrooms seasoned just enough and the tomato warm and firm, not squishy and tinned. The sausage I really liked as good quality, but my wife not quite to her taste, but I really enjoyed. The hash brown was just the right amount of oil and crispiness and the beans were good quality with a tad of butter to make a little richer and tasty. The sourdough bread was perfect, toasted just right, and with the over easy fried egg yolk made a great dipping. scored a 10/10 from me. The Eggs Benedict was a generous portion, and although not crispy bacon was with ham slices which was not of a "processed" taste and therefore great quality. The eggs were done perfectly, and the bƩarnaise sauce extremely tasty. The muffins were high quality and toasted perfectly. I tried a little of this, and for my taste, was very smooth and tasty as a hollandaise sauce, but I would have preferred it with a little more acid coming through, as a bƩarnaise sauce with some white wine vinegar giving it an acidic taste, but still an excellent sauce. The coffee and tea were both of excellent quality, and the service was simply excellent. Well done!

Okay, should probably be a 4 star rating not 3 but a few things just didn’t quite land when I visited. The good: coffee was really great. Sausage (yes singular, get to that in a moment) tasted nice, not some cardboard wrapped in msg. Bacon was actually bacon not tyre rubber masquerading as bacon. Toast nice and crunchy and not ā€˜almost toast’ or cremated cement that is passed off as bread. The bad: beans - should be hot, and stay hot, even when I’m mopping up the sauce with my toast at the end the sauce should still be taking the roof of my mouth off. Next is sausage, not sure why 2 or 3 sausages isn’t standard? Why 1? I mean it’s supposed to be a big breakfast and I left feeling empty. Okay I didn’t have any of the normal breakfast items of mushrooms and tomatoes, as mushrooms grow on feet, and tomatoes should only be served in a bolognaise. The ugly: what ruined it was the oaf across from me who felt it was necessary to swear every third word whilst on the phone. I can swear with the best of them but 9:30 in the morning over breakfast? Staff should have asked the gorilla to ease up or talk outside. Overall: I will go back, hopefully they will add an extra sausage or two (maybe 3?) to the big breakfast. Lastly staff were great, thanks.

BEST EGGS BENEDICT IN UK. With Dog Friendly Outside Area. Where ever I am if they are on the menu I eat them and these are by far the best! Perfect cooked on top of a spectacular traditional muffin. My awesome dish was matched by my buddies who ate the quiche, a blt and an avocado smash!!!! We shared a gigantic bowl of skinny fries. We agreed in the car back to the digs that it was the best food and service in the North East uk. They also have a bakery and we bought cheese sourdough and more muffins - everyone is looking forward to breakfast. Simply the best!

I have often come into Breaking Bread over the last couple of years since I moved up from London and I really enjoyed my visits until today. I was charged for a bowl of fries for my 2 year old which would have been fine as was going to share with my mum but instead of the big bowl that I normally get I got a small handful on his plate , I ordered 2 lots of halloumi which were less than half the size we usually get for Ā£5.00 and my jacket potato which is normally really nice was half the size and tasted reheated from day before , it looked grey inside and tasted watery . And to make things worse I was over charged ,when I went back in to tell the staff I’d been overcharged I cannot believe the response of both the girl and guy that were working , they rudely told me that you’ve been charged for the extras you had and I hadn’t been overcharged even after going through it with them , the girl put onto till again and refused to believe it was wrong and when I said ā€œ there is no need to be rude ā€œ she said ā€œ I’m not being rude ā€œ and walked off then I had the guy tell me that I was charged Ā£2.50 for halloumi that I wanted to swap from feta when I had been told I can swap it and wasn’t made aware of it costing more and surely should have only been charged the difference otherwise I would have got feta anyway and just bought extra halloumi , then I was told it’s right so nothing we can do and when I was going round in circles I said ok then and as I went to walk out , the guy with long hair shouted ā€œ have a nice dayā€ I have ran bars and restaurants for 20 years in London and up here and have never had such rude FOH staff, it was shocking , disappointing food compared to all other visits ( not sure if there’s a new chef or just having an off day) and on top I was overcharged

I had 1 Coke Ā£2.20 1 orange juice Ā£2.50 Avo on toast feta swapped with halloumi ( wasn’t made aware cost more and if so should have been charged difference not the full amount of halloumi )Ā£9.95 Jacket with cheese and beans Ā£7.95 2x Portion of halloumi Ā£5 Cucumber Ā£1.50 ( as mushrooms on receipt ) Bowl of fries Ā£2.75 ( which was half of usual portion of that ) 2 bacon Ā£3.00 Cake with box Ā£4.25 Comes to Ā£ 39.10 And they have charged me for all my sons extras separately aswell as 9.95 for build a breakfast so I was charged Ā£19.10 for 2 bits of bacon, cucumber, halloumi and handful of fries , the only thing that isn’t on the bill was 3.00 for bacon so instead of that they put through a Ā£9.95 breakfast so i was charged Ā£6.45 over but on top of the bad food and shocking Service I was also overcharged and spoken to like absolute crap . Will never be returning here which is a shame because until this experience I actually quite liked it here. But the different staff were clearly very...
