Worst cinema experience ever. Staff are untrained & haven't got a clue as to what they're doing. Went a day after it opened with family to see "Avengers: Infinity War". I asked guy behind counter about discount for being a member, he didn't have a clue so had to book tickets online from phone. They said I couldn't bring my own snacks in so I ordered 4 tango ice blasts which had no ice & were runny. Woman who served asked me if I still wanted them, when I said "no" she replied "I can't do a lot about it that the machines not working properly" even though they had 2 tango ice blast dispensers. It seems both weren't working. So I asked for 4 milkshakes which took 3 staff over 15 mins to make as they couldn't figure out how to make them properly. I had to ask them to hurry up as movie was about to start. Milk shakes consisted of 2 scoops of ice cream sludge with milk floating on top served in a small tango blast cup & they have the audacity to charge £18 for them. The milk shakes are not in the same league as the various ones served inside Broadway. Staff look miserable & can't even raise a smile. When we finally got in to watch movie a minute before it started there were only 10 people there including ourselves on a Saturday! Did not find the so called reclining seats comfortable as they don't recline properly & there's no leg rest like the ones in the Odeon. They seem to have crammed in a lot of seats instead of putting in less seats & making it more spacious for the cinema goer. The dinky tables in middle are just useless along with the cup holder that's built into the arm rest. One of the worst things is that you would have to share the armrest that has the cup holder with whoever is sitting next to you as you don't even get your own armrest. No thought has been given by whoever designed the seating arrangement. Even the sound quality wasn't as good as in Odeon cinema's & didn't feel like surround sound as all the sound seemed to be coming from the front. If you want a great cinema experience I suggest going up the road to the Odeon where its cheaper, seats are a 100 times better, more comfortable & spacious. You can even take in your own snacks or order from the array of snacks that they have, the staff are friendly & actually smile & not miserable like the ones at The Light. I was really looking forward to this cinema opening so I could do a bit of shopping, catch a bite to eat & watch a movie in process. Unfortunately this is the 1st & Iast time I will ever visit this cinema, I'll stick to the Odeon that's just up the road. If I could give it zero...
Read moreBest cinema experience in Bradford but not for the reasons you may think. The cinema is in a bad location surrounded by endless roadworks, closed buildings and streets being dug up. Walking into and out of the area around The Light is not a pleasant experience and trying to get to the parking in and out of Broadway from outside of the centre is an absolute nightmare. Inside the business is clearly under pressure to cut back with lights off, tills closed and the bar area seemingly permanently shut. Worst of all the seats are STILL not right after years of the venue being open. Although they are comfortable they don’t hold position and you are subjected to a cacophony of bangs and slams as people move around. This has been the same since day one. Very tricky trying to hold yourself in position and not move around for two and half hours. So why visit then? One answer plain and simple - the staff. The staff here are welcoming and friendly no matter if you visit for a morning screening or late night film. They clearly want to be there and are invested in providing you with the best possible experience. A special mention goes to Natalie, Khuram, Dan and Darcy who have been with The Light from the beginning and who clearly have a passion for what they do. Whatever you are paying these staff members it is not enough. These are the people that are keeping things going under sometimes very trying circumstances and still with a smile on their faces. They are clearly dedicated employees and are the sole reason I keep going back to this venue. Thanks for always making a visit to the cinema an enjoyable experience guys. You...
Read moreWent with my son to watch the latest resident evil film. Purchased tickets, food and drinks. Started to go to the screen room when we were asked to prove my sons age. That's a perfectly reasonable question to be asked, unfortunately we had no way of providing anything that would prove he was 15. I'm his dad for gods sake and I'm willing to accept responsibility if anyone came in for proof of age. Well we didn't get in because we had no proof to show, who has proof of age for a 15 year old going to the pictures. If he was on his own fair enough. They said to watch another film, stupid suggestion in my opinion. So we had to accept a refund for the tickets but not for the rip off food. The attitude of the staff was nothing short of we don't care or want to know. Can honestly say we won't be back. You would think with the last year of shutdown they would be more helpful. Well I won't recommend this place I'm sticking to the vue in future. No stars worth giving here. But we had to give one star to...
