Burlingtons Restaurant — Restaurant in England

Very disappointed & it spoilt the evening. Our party had booked for the Earlybird menu only to find on arrival at the beautifully refurbished restaurant that it had, to quote the owner, "All been changed". No mention of the changes were made when I'd confirmed numbers a few days earlier. We were greeted by the friendly waitress who gave us all menus to peruse & the "Specials" board was mentioned but the most popular choice for us all was crossed through leaving only the priciest available which cost far more than the menu we had booked. Access to the table was down a few steps and access to the toilets was up a very steep flight of steps - worth noting if you have disabled members in your party.

Had we been able to have found another venue to accommodate our party at such short notice we would have left straight away. The food was nice if rather on the stingy side. Some of us had the lamb with one person only getting 3 tiny pieces. Certainly not worth the price quoted! The "plenty of vegetables available" we kept getting told about turned out to be just new potatoes! Whether this is standard fare there or simply because we were to get a 20% discount remains to be seen if any of us ever go there again.

On leaving the restaurant we were very surprised to see still clearly displayed in the window the very flyer advertising the Earlybird menu which had tempted us to try the restaurant!

If you are thinking of making a booking I suggest you double check exactly what will be available on the day in question so that you too are not left...

Sorry to chuck a spanner in the works - we, just two of us, went here for dinner after reading the endless glowing, gushing reviews left by others. These reviews massively over egg the pudding in my experience! Sea Bass fillet at £17.95 is a full on price and what I got was a half portion - yes - just one very thin half of a small fish. The wilted spinach accompaniment had wilted to vanishing point, and it was difficult to make out the sauce. Vegetables for two comprised three or four types and like the fish, the portion was megre. Salmon/Lasagne was again ok - just ok. Overall a bit pricy too - not impressed and good service doesn't make up for shortcomings with...

This was our first time eating here and i have to say..... the food was exceptional..... the decor was stunning and the service well.... we just couldn't ask for anymore, the Gent who was serving us made our trip to this restaurant worth it alone. We also have a autistic 4yr old who gets stressed if too much is going on at once so he booked us in as soon as they opened as he knew this was the quiet time so if our son had a moment we could calm him easily and this for me means you have owners who actually care for...
