Cask ale not the greatest, but did the job. Followed by really tasty staropramen served in a branded stein (great head and temp). Moved inside to watch the game and eat some food. I had a steak and ale pie with curly fries on request - one of the most delicious pies I ever had in Edinburgh. Served with steamed veg bouquet, puff pastry and delicious gravy - £8 Unbelievable!!!. From the moment I saw the outside of the pub, I knew I was going to enjoy it! It's a traditional pub with gorgeous dark interior and a fab selection of drinks. The Christmas decorations were still up and it had the biggest indoor Christmas tree I've seen - beautifully decorated and just cosy and inviting.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and poured a smashing pint of Guiness. A mixture of regulars, off duty staff and waifs and strays like my husband and I made up the clientele. There was plenty of seating, with large inviting booths available to rest weary legs. They're also dog friendly, if that's important to you.

Read moreBeen going to the adjoining Polish restaurant for years not realising they offer a Scottish menu in the bar next door. Firstly, it's a traditional old pub that's immaculately kept. There are plenty of TVs so it's great for watching live sport. There's a decent range of whiskies for locals and tourists a like, as well as beers (including several Polish options), wines and cocktail specials.
