Played here on Wednesday and I have to be totally honest for the sake of constructive feedback and tell you I was disappointed. Only 2 years ago we were paying half what you pay now for a winter green fee - I understand the price of everything has increased but for it to double is a joke. Especially when we turn up after a 2 hour drive to be told the fairways are closed and mats are in operation. The fairways were bone dry as always and this was massively excessive! If the green fee was still reasonable this would be easier to swallow but to be doubling your green and insisting on fairway mats is crazy. Conwy used to be a super humble golf course - good value, great condition and overall felt like a brilliant day out. Now it feels like they have taken advantage of the influx of golfers since lockdown by ramping up the prices. We rung the club the day before to ask about course conditions and there was zero mention of fairway mats. We also avidly checked the course status on the website and again - zero mention of fairway mats. My advice would be to be transparent and warn paying visitors of such conditions so they don’t travel 2 hours in search of dry fairways to be told they must play from a mat all the way round the golf course. Disappointing.
