The Old White House — Restaurant in Wales

Following a personal recommendation, we booked here for Sunday lunch. The place itself looked lovely inside and out. Spotless and tastefully decorated. The food came out beautifully presented. Sadly, that’s where the positivity ends. All 9 plated meals were tepid and the lamb was tough and overly fatty (the beef, turkey and salmon were cooked fine however, despite not being hot). I mentioned to one of the staff, when she asked if everything was ok, about the temperature of the food and she offered to reheat it but I declined as didn’t want the lamb microwaved. The 3 people in our party who had the lamb had to leave the majority of it on their plates. When I asked for the bill, I discretely asked if we could discuss what we had already said, foolishly trusting that maybe a few drinks or the lamb meals at least would be taken off the bill. The response, however, was absolutely appalling! The member of staff was obstructive and raised her voice at me in front of other customers! She did offer to take 50% off one of the lamb meals which quite frankly I found insulting and just told her to get the bill and I would pay it. We couldn’t wait to get out of the place.. On behalf of The Old White House, we serve food Friday 5 - 8.15 pm, Saturday 5 - 8.15 pm and Sunday 12 - 3.30 pm; these times can vary depending on how busy it is with service. Thursday’s we do bingo night starting from 7.30 pm. All staff are very polite to each customer that is welcomed into the pub, the manager/boss is always on site to make sure of this just incase a claim is made that can be made falsely towards staff. Place was recommended to us. Lovely walk down from Castlebank Hotel. Got the last 2 pies that day (just before a group of 4 came in & some wanted pies!!!).

Food was delicious. Staff friendly, warm & charming. Got in and a local recommended a pub in Llandudno which we visited the next day! (Another great suggestion)!

Enjoyed the pub so much we went back the next night! Fab pub & definitely will go again when...
