I absolutely love Ware Lido. Been coming here since I was a child. But this afternoon my husband and I, along with our two children arrived and joined the queue, and straight away we were horrified to hear VILE swearing and shouting coming from a large crowd of young gypsy boys! There were also two grown 'women' with them, who jumped qeue and just walked straight in!! These people were clearly quite used to just coming down here and causing absolute MAYHEM and getting away with it!! Because all the poor people who work there are obviously far too scared to confront them or kick them out!! But as a result of them being there, it completely destroyed the experience for every single other person who was there!! And 'THEN' at the end of the swimming session, when the staff asked everyone to get out of the pool because it was closing time, these people stayed in the pool, refusing to leave! And were shouting more disgusting abuse at all the lifeguards who simply weren't equipped to handle that kind of situation!! Upon speaking to many of the other people who were visiting the Lido that day, I gather this is a pretty regular occurrence with the gypsies!! So my question is WHY does your facility allow these people in at ALL?? We will certainly NEVER be coming back until you sort this problem out and guarantee that these people will be permanently banned!! If you fail to do, then you're probably going to end up losing ALL your good and decent customers!! Because I can tell you right now, NOBODY in their right 'mind' would bring their small children to your pool, knowing that there's the potential for a scene like that to kick off again!! I don't even have words for it!! Just absolutely...
Read moreWare Priory Lido is beautiful. I fell in love with it the first time I went through the uninviting front doors and then on to the pool surroundings. From the entrance in Priory Street, next to the park it is difficult to believe that such a gem of a swimming pool could be hidden behind the rather ugly front. This is a GREAT pool. There are no problems with that swimming pool smell - just fresh air. The pool is HEATED too. The water is the same temperature as the indoor swimming pools. Generally around 82 degrees C (28 deg F). This is an amazing find - and those who discover it return time and time again. Most get season tickets - it is cheaper for regular swimmers. I have joined the Friends Of Ware Lido FOWL) - they have a Facebook account and also a Twitter presence. You can follow FOWL @WareLido The pool now has it's own Twitter Account and you can follow it @ware_lido I love the pool so much that I spend most of my summers there.
The best thing is to swim in the rain - the water is still warm and most people shy away from pools when it rains. That's crazy - it is a fantastic time to swim. Oh yes - there are refreshments available on site too.
Ware Lido has a loyal following - growing each year - they welcome feedback there. The more critical it is, the more important it is for them to get the feedback. Volunteers are also welcome to help prepare the pool at the start...
Read moreBoth my children recently took part in the children's swimming crash courses and absolutely loved it! They have made huge improvements in their confidence and ability in the water. In fact, they loved it so much and have much such good progress, that we have booked them in for a second week so we can continue to build on the great work. The staff were all wonderful and my children were a little hesitant before the first session, but after a few minutes in the pool they were loving the session and at the end couldn't wait to come back again the next day. Several of the other parents and children were also similarly happy and have booked on for future weeks. I can very much recommend the sessions if you want to improve your children's confidence in the water and swimming ability. The Lido itself is a wonderful venue and is a hidden gem. When the Sun is shining (and even when it is not) it's a beautiful place to be and it feels like you have been transported...
