On a quiet Sunday afternoon we tried out The Mexican for the first time. My wife and I have eaten Mexican food both in Mexico itself and various places in London. It was good to see that the burrito's tortilla was pan fried and the fillings were tasty, the burrito is served as a lonesome fellow with a few limp nachos on the side, plus a small pot of salsa garnish. Food service was reasonably fast but our meals exited from the kitchen across the square then were plonked in the main restaurant before being brought across the square to us some ten minutes later by which time my nachos were cold and mainly soggy. The beer on draft was great and serving staff were attentive at times then seemed distracted by their friends popping in and out for a chat. There needs to be a tighter control on the final product, ensuring it's hot, and how fast it reaches the diner and making sure it's not soggy and cold. Prices are sensible and with improved controls more can be expected from The Mexican.

Have visited a few times and definitely the hidden gem of ware. To point out a few faults first: the staff are certainly disorganised and regularly become overwhelmed or disorientated with serving you. Perhaps implementing more structure with the table service system to dedicate one waiter to a table so that you don’t get several different people bringing the wrong food around or forgetting parts of your order. Other than that! It’s a great lunch and dinner spot. Excellent flavours and delicious food overall. The choices are great and the menu does seem to change. My favourite thing to get are still tacos, you can’t fault them besides the excess oil, so it’s probably not suitable for those on a diet, but saying that, there’s a sensible selection of salads too. It tastes authentic and homemade, hard to imitate at home and definitely worth the money, it’s a shame the service lets it down.

Whilst the food is tasty, the delivery portion sizes are a complete rip off. The images displayed on the GoGetters app indicate that a Sharers portion of Nachos is much bigger than what is actually delivered. A £15.60 sharer portion of Chicken Nachos should not be served in a box that is no longer than a normal dinner fork, and the image shown on the GoGetters app for all the Nachos suggest a much bigger portion will be served. I received more tortilla chips in the side of tortilla chips (£3.40) that I ordered than I did in the “sharer” nachos (£15.60). Whilst I do believe their food is tasty, I unfortunately cannot recommend ordering food for delivery from this restaurant if you are at all interested in getting what you pay for.

Went on Taco Tuesday on Halloween with my family and even then it seemed over priced with the quality of the food being average (if that).

We had a selection (Tapas, Borritoes, Nachoes) and came away feeling very underwhelmed (especially for the price) and cubes of meat felt like they had not been freshly cooked and didn't taste that warm?

The best thing seemed to be the sharing Nachoes (we had the shredded chicken in them and at least that was not cubed meat).

I thought it strange they did not do fajitas, but I'm guessing these take more time to cook and so more costly to make and would be hard to make in the small kitchen?

Usually there is also the option to have hard tacoes instead of the soft ones which I would have much preffered with some quality ground/shredded meat with some fresh crisp chopped salad to put on the tacoes (something they also did not do 🙁).

Was very disappointed in what was going to be a treat for our 2 children as my daughter loves tacoes and really fancied them.

Must admit we should have complained at the time, but it felt like they would be unable to do much better with the ingredients they had been supplied (tasted like pre cooked cubes of meat, no fresh chopped salad) with limited kitchen space so a replacement meal would have been the same (maybe just hotter) and was just left shocked with the price at the end for the quality of the food we had received and then thought about it more on our journey home before posting this review.

Maybe we could have not eaten it, complained and left, but we were hungry and it was getting late to get back home to get the children to do their homework, showered and ready for bed before school the next day.

I really hate to complain (especially when the staff are so hard working), but think their hands are tied with what they are given to work with and trying to increase profit margins. 🙁

UPDATE TO THE RELY (AFTER 8 MONTHS OF ME POSING IT!) - LIKE I SAY IN MY REVIEW I FEEL THERE IS NOTHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE EVEN IF I'D HAD COMPLAINED AT THE TIME AS IT WAS THE INGREDIENTS THAT WAS CHEAP (HEATED UP CUBED MEAT INSTEAD OF FRESHLY SHREDDED/GROUND MEAT).

I GUESS IF I HAD COMPLAINED ALL THEY COULD HAVE DONE IS GIVEN ME MONEY OFF, BUT IT STILL WOULD HAVE BEEN A POOR QUALITY MEAL AND I JUST WANTED TO PAY AND GET HOME AS IT WAS GETTING LATE FOR MY CHILDREN'S BEDTIME.

SAYING I SHOULD HAVE COMPLAINED AT THE TIME DOES NOT DEAW AWAY FROM THE FACT THAT I FEEL EVEN IF I HAD COMPLAINED A BETTER MEAL COULD NOT HAVE BEEN SUPPLIED DUE TO VERY POOR QUALITY INGREDIENTS.

JUST A SHAME IT TOOK 8 MONTHS TO REPLY.

It’s so annoying that I have to say this. But our experience was just too bad to not leave a review on here for other people. We had a table of 12 on a Thursday night. We were told we had to pre order and pay a deposit. Originally the deposit was going to be £140 then they changed it to £90 then they said £50!! Don’t know why this was changed. The higher the deposit the higher the charge on my credit card (not impressed) strike one. Ordering our food was a pain in the back side. I went to speak over the phone and she told me she wouldn’t take it over the phone so I then (whilst working as a project manager) had to take time out of my schedule to type it all out for them to have!! When we got there the food order was wrong! Even though I’d spend about an hour backwards and forwards telling them all the details only to be asked did you put it all in a WhatsApp group for people to sort?!!!! I was furious!! Anyway, food orders wrong! Things missing! Kept coming over with the wrong drink! May I also mentioned that the restaurant was EMPTY so why on Earth I couldn’t just order whilst we were there is beyond me! If we had been sat on 3 single tables we wouldn’t have had to! Food was tasteless and cold! And then we were served up a £450 bill to which we all nearly keeled over!! It then took an hour to sort as they had done a drinks bill separate to food! My god I’ve never felt more stressed in my life and I didn’t get home until midnight! I felt like the only thing left for them to ask us to do was to cook it for them! Oh and to top it off I’ve been unwell since eating there! Don’t do it! It’s not worth the hassle

And in response to your response - I’m not gonna lose sleep over it because your staff are ‘offended’ by my review 🤣😂 maybe they should learn how to take an order, deliver and order, get the bill right, bring the right drinks out, bring the right meals out I’d spent ages PRE ordering…. The list is endless!

Either way - stop being a snowflake, accept the fact youve been rubbish and try to improve your services! Then maybe you won’t need a box of tissues to wipe away your issues.

Safe to say none of us would ever eat there again, and I’m sure you’re equally as happy to not have us back! All round a great result 😂🤣 enjoy your day. Try to get through it...

My partner and I Went to the Mexican for our first meal out since the lockdown lifted, the staff acknowledged us straight away and sat us down. We got to order our drinks very quickly and recieved them ever quicker, the lady serving us explained that they are operating on an order and pay basis which was absolutely fair enough. I highly recommend the Coco Loco cocktail which was created by the wonderful Harry who is part of the management team there, it was divine! We then ordered our food, our starter came out very quickly again and was unbelievably delicious as usual (we had the no me tingas nachos) however one of the lovely girls serving came over and explained there had been some confusion with our mains, which resulted in receiving them at different times but I have to say the way it was handled was absolutely fantastic! They acknowledged the issue before we had to say anything, they apologised profusely, gave us 2 more cocktails on the house (we were also offered a refund) we of course chose the Coco Loco again! But ultimately this was absolutely a 5 star visit as mistakes happen and can't always be avoided, but it is how those mistakes are dealt with and how the staff speak to you and treat you that make all the difference! I was already impressed with the Mexican before this visit but I'm now even more impressed with the level of professionalism, service and genuine customer care we recieved. I can not wait to go back again! A massive thank you to all of you that served or spoke to us you really did make our night and we had the...
