Oh look, the Castle on the Hill. So just as you turn off the main road and head up towards the square and castle, turn immediately left. Go on about 600m and find the parking spot on the left hand side of the road, careful its narrow. You will be parked just below the private school up to your left and the Mere is to your right. There is a footpath on the right hand side of the road that takes you along the side of the lake and offers probably the best view up to the castle. If you have a zoom lens it will draw the castle in a bit closer but a mobile phone wide lens setup will give a nice general view across the Mere. It can be very wet all arou d the lake but the path is reasonable, wellies in winter.

A beautiful circular walk around Framlingham Mere, we started at Framlingham Castle and the walk is well sign posted! You get to enjoy a peaceful stroll in the countryside, through some cattle fields and nature areas! Dogs welcome but keep in leads! The views of the castle are magnificent! Tranquil & stunning a worth a visit and then enjoy a cuppa & cake in Framlingham! Loved it!

Very enjoyable place to walk around, I feel it would be accessible and enjoyable for more people if the brambles and nettles were cut back from the path more, but it is a natural environment so bear in mind that it's not the easiest walk. You may also see the cows grazing!
