Sparrows Nest is a super place for absolutely anyone. A small park for children enclosed. The park itself is very spacious, it has a Maritime Museum which is brilliant, so informative with lots to see snd get involved with. A separate place in the museum for children and school groups. In the summer there is usually a children's afternoon for 6 Thursdays. Hopefully the craft stalls will be back. There's also a bowling green, cafe,Italian restaurant, both have super food and good prices, toilets, fish pond. World war museum but not always open. Belle Vue Park is a stones throw away as is the Tingdene Caravan park. People won't be disappointed coming, to meet others, have a picnic ot just a wander feeding the squirrels. Dogs are...
Read moreThe parks and gardens keep Sparrows Nest Gardens beautiful. It's a lovely park for families & ideal for picnics. Usually in the summer there is family entertainment, obviously Covid has stopped that this year! There is a cafe that is reasonably priced with a good menu, open for takeaway & limited seating available inside. There are plenty of picnic benches available outside. Also available is Giardino's restaurant, which I haven't personally used but which has a good reputation locally. There is also a naval museum, I'm not sure on opening times. Read moreI have been going here for years. It has a lovely grassed area for picnics or you could go for a nice walk around the gardens and even sit and watch the locals play bowls. There is a restaurant which serves lovely meals also there is a separate bar in the grounds as well as an enclosed childs play area with seating around it. A pond with a small fountain. The Maritime museum which is at one of the entrances and the War Memorial Museum that is inside the grounds. There are public toilets which are cleaned regularly. Nice relaxing atmosphere....
