Ashby Nature Reserve is a great picturesque place , leisure activities in and around the lake include fishing, walking, dog walking , rambling ,or even running and jogging, or simply relaxing .There plenty of waste bins sited around the area, and dog waste bins , in order to keep the reserve clean and tidy and free from polution. If your into bird watching there are nest boxes sited at the far side of the reserve, that bring in an abundance of wild life if your an avid bird watcher. Along the far side is Bottesford beck River, there is a public footpath which links to Bottesford Beck Linear Park, which is a nice relaxing walk along the Beck you can detour to Pink Pink Farm which is well sign posted on the bridal way along your travels. In the beck there an abundance of species of fish and wildlife from otters to kingfishers and water voles to Perch Rudd and chubb following the beck eventualy takes you to...

Lovely walk with 3 year old grandson around this lovely nayural lagoon and wildlife haven. Lovely walkways around the lake enhanced by lengthy stretch of boardwalk decking and footbridge over a long section of the waterway. Multi use site with watersports enthusiasts vatered for at one end, with many waterfowl, waders and songbirds nesting in and on the rest. The disappointing downside, and typical of today is there are just as many dogs as nature lovers, many unleashed and running riot in and around the nest sites, and in the water chasing newly hatched fledglings. Many bad owners who shouldnt be anywhere near the place..and fittingly, our grandson constantly warning us not to tread in the dogpoo....lovely place but badly...

Took my 2 dogs for a walk here whilst in Messingham earlier this month. This is a really lovely, relaxing place with beautiful scenery and took us 40 mins to casually walk the perimeter. It has a good dirt track/path to walk on and a wooden walkway over the lake, where we saw lots of ducks, swans and coots quite close up. It has a tarmac car park which holds 30 cars, 2 spaces of which are for Disabled users. Also has a brief but detailed information board just as you enter the Nature reserve from the car park. Would definitely recommend a visit if...

This is a local gem, with a circular walk around the lake, or options to venture into woodland and further afield. It's a lovely place to walk around with plenty of wildlife to spot. The pathways appear suitable for disabled people too. They've improved the amount of bins available (thankfully!) its nice that there's a few places on the way around for the pooch to have a paddle 🐶

Wonderful place to walk dogs. Wouldn't go as far as calling it a nature reserve as there are very few animals to be seen, same for plants unless you count the common tree. I imagine there are plenty of rabbits burrowed around from the abundance of droppings but altogether a great walk. Takes around 40 minutes to circle the lake if following the trail.
