The room was cold also smell of damp which was so strong that l had to keep the window open for a few hours although it was a very cold day . The premier Inn rooms used to feel welcoming and cozy but so many don't anymore and this was one of the hotels . The bed was not comfortable, creaking as soon as you sat on it and worse still by lying on it . Premier Inn used to be known for being clean , very comfortable bed and safe , the very clean is questionable in lots of their hotels . The armchair in my room had stains on it and l wouldn't sit in any of premier Inn armchairs and worst still those single beds that often have in rooms . Most of those are not desirable let's say . The staff at reception were friendly and very nice . Its not there fault that premier Inn has let standards slip . As for the connecting restaurant Beef Eater , that was appalling , terrible service for dinner a wait of just over one hour forty five minutes and my meal wasn't edible l like steak well done and normally Beef Eater cook it as l like and it is tasty but this was like lump of leather . Even with a steak knife l couldn't eat it my fries were over cooked so when l tried to pick them up with my cutlery they flew off my plate . My food was cold also . Other colleagues had burnt ribs plus fries like mine . The other colleagues who had burgers said they were nice along with there chips which were also cooked nicely. So service was terrible and food was 50/50 in our group six people . It also took me twenty minutes to get a drink at the bar . It was very noticeable how short staffed they were . The staff in both the bar and restaurant were friendly and polite but ran off there feet . More staff...
Read moreI had a very urgent need to book a room at 10am; as I and a friend had travelled up to Scunthorpe due to another friend being hospitalised. My friend and I had had no sleep the previous night and after booking the room online; I discovered the check in time was 3pm. I called the front desk and ended up speaking to Gemma; I explained our situation and asked if there was any way we could check in earlier as we just wanted to get some sleep. Gemma was very polite and kind; she said she would call me back as soon as any other double room was available, I thanked her and thought I wouldn't hear from her for a couple of hours. 35 minutes later Gemma called me and said a room was available and we could go there now. We met her at reception and she was one of the most pleasant people I have ever met. She checked us in very quickly and even asked if there was any other thing we wanted. My friend asked her if there was any hot chocolate available in the room as she doesn't drink tea/coffee. Gemma checked with the restaurant attached to the hotel, came back and said there wasn't; but then she went into the staff-room behind the front desk and came back with the staff's own personal supply and gave my friend a good couple of cups worth of hot chocolate powder to drink. We were blown away by her generosity. All the staff we met at this hotel were friendly and kind. I am very highly recommending this hotel to anybody who needs a very comfortable nights sleep with very friendly staff on hand to help out with anything. Thank you Gemma, we hope you like your frothy hot...
Read moreStayed here for a couple of nights 18 - 20th October with my wife.
The staff were all very friendly and the room was immaculately clean, location was good and close to morrisons supermarket and retail park with b and m, home bargains, food warehouse etc.
Now the points I didn't like, only just realised there was apparently free WiFi provided as the room (number 129) we stayed in had no Internet or WiFi whatsoever, rendering the smart tv in the room redundant and surfing the Web with any device just won't happen.
It was a long walk to our room and if you have mobility issues it may be an issue as we didn't see any lifts and weren't made aware of any.
The hairdryer provided did not work, it's a good job my wife bought her own.
The main heating system in the room did not work apart from the separate tiny heater by the window, we reported this to reception and the lady wheeled to us a small convector heater which was used to keep the room as warm as it could be.
The location of the Beefeater for dining couldn't be closer, had an evening meal there which was nice but didn't go for the buffet style breakfast that would be available there.
Parking is very limited by the Premier Inn itself but additional parking is available at the back of the Beefeater a few seconds walk away.
I would stay here again as the location was spot on for what we needed but certainly would ask to change rooms if we were put in...
