Costa Coffee — Restaurant in England

Pretty appalling to say the least. The staff couldn’t be less interested. As we were ordering the server turned to a group of customers and shouted “go stand over there out the way” the women looked mortified. We ordered our food, and sat down. The table was dirty and as one of the staff came round cleaning tables he looked at us, looked at the table and then walked right past us, I asked him to clean it as he walked by and he ignored me. Our food arrived, except for our toast. My husband went to the counter and asked if it was ready, and I kid you not the girl behind the counter said “well I wasn’t the one who took your order so what do you want me to do about it?” My husband looked at her and said “well there’s the receipt, can you make it?” She huffed at him and said “why do you want me to make it. I didn’t take your order”. When the toast was ready it was chucked on the counter, only 1 side actually toasted. Horrible experience from the second we walked in the door. Rude ignorant staff. Literally no customer service skills whatsoever. Worst Costa I have...

I didn't even get to have a coffee. There was a large group in front of me so I waited patiently. When it was my turn the young girl looked at me, ignored me and asked the next person in the queue what would they like. I said "you have missed me out" again she glanced at me, without a word and carried on, slowly with a bored face. I waited expecting her to ask me next but no. She glanced at me again. Walked past me and again asked the next customer! I said" ignore me once fine but a second time I'm not staying.she carried on ignoring me no apology. I walked out feeling totally embarrassed and humiliated. I should have stood my ground and made her apologise. The annoying thing now is she will carry on treating people badly and none of the other staff were in the slightest bit bothered. I will not go there again. Apparently I am not the only one giving poor reviews lately. All the other Costas I have visited around the country have been good but this one...

As a driving instructor, I am constantly out and about, frequently appreciating coffee spots and public loos!! I stopped off at the new Costa in Scunthorpe yesterday, as it has recently just been built, and is in a convenient location and from the outside, looked colourful and inviting. That's the good points covered. However, once inside, the interior immediately looks cheap. The tables and chairs are cheap-looking, and the space had an air of motorway service station about it. It's many a year since I sat in a Costa, but when I did I recall it being a plush, comfortable, relaxing place to be. This is far from it. It was cold, uncomfortable and the food is poor. I paid over £8.00 for a coffee and a microwaved sandwich - which didn't taste of much. I won't be returning. I presume this is a cheaper version of a Costa to catch those wanting to kill 30 minutes. It doesn't compare with other branches. Disappointing...
