We attended this pub on a visit from our caravan holiday - we are not locals so this was our first time ever attending this pub. The service was immaculate, the staff are beyond polite and were lovely from the minute we entered, till the minute we left the establishment. The cleanliness of the place, seemed ok. The menus were very sticky, we ended up wiping them down ourselves, but the tables and chairs themselves were perfect. We got to seat ourselves, which is perfectly fine however had two gaming machines located right behind us, which was fine until other members of public wanted to come and use them (we were a family of 7, so needed a bigger table and there weren't many to choose from) - so an odd placement for the game machines. The main meal was a bit lacking, we ordered 1 lasagne, 2 full Monty's, 1 smokin' jack and 3 kids meals. The kids meals were okay - the burgers were a little dry but apart from that, they were perfect. The full Monty's were ok, a bit dry and tough and you could tell some of it had been re-heated. The smokin jack was nothing special, you couldn't taste the BBQ and the cheese was tasteless, the fries were also like pellets and the lasagne was just a bit of a let down, too much bechamel sauce ratio to mince & sauce. We also ordered pretty much at the same time, and 2 of our meals came straight away and 5 of us were left to wait - which we have never experienced before, even when we have ordered on separate bills as they asked if we were on the same table/eating together, which we confirmed we were. We ordered dessert and this massively changed our opinion (hence the 3 stars). We ordered 2 candymanias (they are huge), 2 apple crumbles and then a variety of kids ice creams and they all went down a treat. No complaints at all. The drinks were also perfect, just the main meals massively let our visit down today, I don't think we will return, but are grateful we at least got to experience this pub. Pictured: The Candymania.

Had a couple of drinks outside whilst we had our dog with us as there isn't any area inside to take your dog. We then took advantage of the Tuesday special where you get a choice of selected big plate meals at the reduced price of £6.50. They also honour the "Blue light card" for a further discount. The 2 meals were fab. No complaints in regards to the food. 15oz Gammon and chicken New Yorker was ordered 👌 The only criticism, probably due to staffing levels but the outside tables where previous diners had eaten were left untidy with plates and food and not cleaned in the time we was there. Birds were coming down and eating the scraps/leftovers from off the plates.

Arrived at The Wellow at 3pm on 30th July 2019, ordered 2 drinks, looked at the menu and decided what we both wanted to eat, not busy at all nearly every table was mucky with plates, glasses not been wiped properly, I went to the bar to order food, my table was mucky from approx 3pm to 3.50pm when our food came, no cutlery on any tables so had to wait for that, no butter came with my meal, asked for some but never got it, so i ate dry bread, overall the meal was ok but the service is shocking, no tables cleaned, no check back was given about the food, staff just talking instead of clearing. Will not be returning to this place for a meal anytime soon.

*Dirty cutlery *wrong drinks *Terible customer service *missing meals *food over cooked *hairs in multiple meals *Bad attitude from FOH staff

I visited this venue for a family meal with 4 kids and my partner. We found a bench out in the sun and ordered our food via the app, we waited an hour for the drinks and food to arrive, no one came out to advise there would be a wait on food which In my opinion was bad customer service to start with and there's no reason in hell why it took an hour to bring out a bottle of coke, cup of tea and 4 capri suns. A member of staff from the front of house team brought cutlery out to us, it was filthy; food stuck to it. When drinks FINALLY arrived (after being asked about it) the brought out 4 fruit shoots. When we asked them to swap them I was met by a member of staff huffing at me, he wouldn't replace 2 of them as the caps had been removed, even though they hadn't been drunk.

Food finally arrived and we were missing my daughter's kids meal (chicken nuggets and crunchy veg sticks), I asked a member of staff to bring this. My Fish was completely over cooked to the point of being burnt, I also asked the member of staff to replace this, the staff member tried to tell me that it was meant to be told that (almost black)! Half an hour later it the kids meal finally arrived, no sign of my fish. My one of my sons had burger and mashed potato, his mash was extremely over cooked and dry but that kid will eat anything so I left him to it. My partner and all kids started eating their meals and hairs were found in his burgers, my daughter's crunchy veg sticks, and my other son's sausage and mash. All stopped eating when they found them, still no sign of my fish. My partner asked to speak to the manager and asked for a refund of the now non existent fish, his hairy burger and the 2 hairy kids meals that hadn't been eaten. The manager would only refund the 2 adult meals and was quite rude about that. To top it all off, the disabled toilet was fithy and stank awful. I truly wish I had taken photos to add to this review.

I get that it was busy and would have let one or 2 of the issues go as mistakes, the amount of issues we had however couppled with the bad attitude and rudeness of the staff is beyond a joke. I am extremely disgusting with this establishment and can not believe the terrible standards. I will be placing this as a complaint to the area manager and...

We come every year for a family reunion. I reviewed this place a year ago and left a 5 star review. WOW what has happened since then. the staff work hard and deserve praise but im really sorry but the management team need retraining. I cannot remember when in a eatery every being spoken to in the way that Sara spoke to us. We had just finished eating when she came to our table and told us we had to leave because they had a 90 minute rule. We explained that we were staying for the evening because my brother was travelling up from London and was eating with us when he arrived. We was told that this wouldn't be happening and we had to leave. She left a sign on the table and told us that we would be leaving. I did follow her across the room and explained what was happening and that we would be staying. Well she had a right imature tantrum with us and stormed off. Then the mature manager came up and put the sigh back on the table. We TRIED to explain to her but she again was quite rude and told us we WOULD be leaving. I did suggest that as there where 4 people on the table that had eaten already and we had 3 more joining us that was eating. She walked away telling us that we would be leaving in a VERY rude manner. We are going to leave when we finish our drinks because unlike the managment team in here we do not want confrontation. Now Im sure that these guys will have discussed how to cover their tracks over this matter, but Im sure that Green King if they know the truth would not be happy with this. My brother has used this bar for a many number of years and my local in Wakefield, The Holmfield Arms is a fanrastic bar/restaurant/hotel and I have never experienced anything like we have today. Maybe ythe management should go over there for some...
