My friend visited me in Salisbury, and I found out that they have a Christmas event in Mompesson house. I've never been there so it seemed to be a good occasion to visit it. All the rooms were decorated with handmade Christmas decoration imitating the Victorian era and based on different fairy tales, like Cinderella, The Snow Queen, etc. They looked all magical with all the matching details. We really felt like we were part of a traditional family Christmas. They also had a game for kids where you had to find something in every room. I have to admit that we did it with my friend and enjoyed it😄 at the end we went to their second-hand bookshop and bought a surprise book for £2. It was wrapped and had a tag attached saying only keywords what the book is about. I will put it under the Christmas tree so it will be a surprise for us 🎄

National Trust properties never fail, first day after the winter closure the people at the entrance very friendly and helpful. The little tearoom served beautiful lunches made fresh to order had a good selection of cakes. They have a gorgeous collection of old china. Nothing beats a cuppa from a cup and saucer. There is seating inside and outside with the latter looking over the garden. There were vases of fresh flowers everywhere, they smelt wonderful. House tastefully restored, for me in the dining room there is an amazing collection of glasses, just stunning. Worth the visit just to see them. The stems are gorgeous all from around 1700.

We visited here on Mother’s Day as somewhere small and easily walkable. The house is easy to find and the Cathedral Close is beautiful itself. We had a lovely greeting on entering Mompesson and although there were only 7 rooms available to view it was an unexpectedly interesting visit. The glassware was particularly fascinating - and I never thought I’d say that! - helped by explanations from the volunteer. Upstairs was more limited with the rooms roped off but the gardens outside were pretty, even in March. A great second hand bookshop too!

This is a wonderful NT property in the centre of Salisbury. A small property and garden but still worth a visit. It doesn't have a Car Park like other NT properties. However there are 3 carparks within 5 minutes walk. Staff as usual are very pleasant. Lovely little garden to the rear. Has a good sized tea room considering the small size of the garden and house. Small gift shop to the rear. There isn't a second hand book shop here. Fantastic view of the cathedral from the bedroom windows. Well worth a visit if your in Salisbury.

This is a relatively small National Trust property, but with an interesting history, as is the case with all National Trust locations. From the first floor windows there are great views of Salisbury Cathedral, just across the Choristers Square, and there are some wonderful paintings on the walls. The small coffee shop at the other end of a small garden has a limited but reasonable menu. The volunteer staff were well informed and eager to answer questions.
