The church overlooks beautiful town of Hythe and the sea.
It is dedicated to St. Leonard, the patron Saint of Prisoners.
It was originally built around 1090 and boasts many Norman features, as well as the largest and best-preserved collection of ancient human skulls and bones in Britain. The last ones located in the crypt.
Crypt open hours are:
Tuesday to Saturday between 11:00 to 4:00 pm ( with lunch break between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm .
Sundays open hours between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
The church open hours are:
From Monday to Friday: between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
On Saturday: from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
On Sunday : from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm.

Message is the same for all the Religions of the world. All my family have visited this and sat few minutes in Silence inside. We feel the Spirituality & recharged our Body , Mind & Soul. Read moreThe church is stunning and calming in its own right. We however went to view the Crypt. The website advised that it closed for lunch, so after a 30 mile trip to visit after their lunch break, to find a note in the entrance saying it was closed due to covid was disappointing. I fully understand them having to close to protect peoples health and safety in these times, but had we known it was closed from the website, we wouldn't have travelled their, and could have visited somewhere that was open.
