I haven't visited Hythe Town for ages but after waking down Bank Street and turning right into the main street, my wife and I had a pleasant surprise when we saw Truly Scrumptious. The way the seating was arranged outside had the feel of an Italian style piazza. As we had already eaten we decided to take advantage of this and stopped for a drink. I decided on a soft drink my wife a large latte which came to around a fiver. Not too bad considering prices these days. After looking at the menu this place caters for people who are dropping by for a drink and a snack. There were a few of the older generation there who were regulars of the tea and cake brigade. Don't expect large meals as this is not a restaurant although I dare say that they could knock up three courses if you asked them to. They are open Tuesday to Saturday around 8am till 4pm. Closed Sunday's and Mondays. Next time I'm in that neck of the woods I might pop in for something a bit more...

When I then requested another cold butter for her I was brusquely told by the same person that there was a 20p charge for each extra butter. Considering that we had spent more than £30 for the 2 breakfasts + 2 take away scones, this seems penny pinching in the extreme and totally changed our enjoyment of...

The chili was clearly home made and was tasty, the potato also came with a side salad with a tasty dressing. I dined inside and enjoyed the 1940's style music gently playing in the background. There is a small, covered courtyard or an outside area so plenty of choices of where to sit. They have a really nice selection of homemade cakes,I had a slice of spiced apple cake which was very tasty indeed. In terms of prices this cafe is a little cheaper than some of the others along Hythe High street. I would revisit this cafe, I saw other food coming out,it all looked...
