Museum of witchcraft and magic The Harbour, Boscastle PL35 0HD Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle, located in Cornwall—a place rich with eerie charm, historical depth, and occult curiosities. World-Leading Collection: The museum is acclaimed as home to the world’s largest collection of witchcraft, folk magic, Wicca, and ceremonial magic artifacts. It includes items linked to historical figures like Aleister Crowley, Gerald Gardner, and Alex Sanders. Historical Legacy: Founded by Cecil Williamson in 1951, the museum has navigated controversy and physical moves before settling in Boscastle in 1960. Ownership passed through Graham King and later Simon Costin, preserving its mission and charm. Atmospheric Setting: Housed in a converted old pilchard factory, the museum's narrow corridors, low ceilings, and quirky layout lend it an intimate, slightly spooky feel that enhances the experience. Unmatched collection with historical depth Small layout—can feel cramped Atmospheric, immersive environment Some exhibits may be intense for kids Rich, educational presentation Admission price may seem steep to some Charming touches for younger visitors The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic is a fascinating blend of history, folklore, mysticism, and genuine museum curation. Its intimate setting, rare collection, and atmospheric presentation make it a must-visit for those drawn to the esoteric, the uncanny, or Cornwall’s mystical heritage.

The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle is a captivating destination that truly lives up to its name. Nestled within a quaint little building, the museum is a treasure trove of fascinating artifacts that celebrate the rich history and lore of witchcraft. Though the space is compact, every corner is filled with intriguing items, each with its own unique story, making it a place where you’ll want to take your time to fully absorb everything. Visiting with our 7-year-old daughter, we found the museum to be quite family-friendly, though it's worth noting that some exhibits do feature nudity. However, the museum thoughtfully provides signs to warn visitors, allowing you to easily bypass these sections if needed. This considerate approach ensures that everyone can enjoy the experience at their own comfort level. The museum’s gift shop is another highlight, offering an array of enchanting items that make for perfect keepsakes. Whether you're interested in books, crystals, or other mystical trinkets, you're sure to find something that catches your eye. Boscastle, the village where the museum is located, adds to the overall atmosphere of mystery and magic. Every time we've visited, the village has been shrouded in mist, enhancing the sense of stepping into another world. This blend of setting and history makes the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic a must-visit for anyone intrigued by the mystical and the unknown.

Absolutely spellbinding! Our family trip to Bude, Cornwall on April 20th, 2025, wouldn't have been the same without a visit to the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic. From the moment we arrived, parking was a breeze thanks to the conveniently located Cobweb Car Park, just a short and pleasant 5-minute walk away. The lady at reception was an absolute delight, so welcoming, with a genuinely warm smile & incredibly helpful with our questions regarding tickets and the layout. Speaking of which, the pricing was very reasonable: £7 for adults and £5 for kids between 6 and 17 years old, with under-5s going free, which was a bonus for our youngest! Inside, the museum is certainly packed with fascinating artifacts and exhibits. While it's undeniably congested, this actually added to the unique atmosphere. Every nook & cranny seemed to hold a piece of history or a curious tale, creating an immersive experience that truly captivated both the adults and the kids. We spent ages exploring the diverse collection, sparking some really interesting conversations with our children. This museum isn't just a collection of dusty relics; it's a journey into a world of folklore, tradition, and the enduring power of belief. It's thought-provoking, sometimes eerie, but always engaging. If you're in the area, it's an absolute must-see for a truly memorable and unique experience. Highly recommended!

I would usually give this place 5 Stars. I love this museum. The only reasons it has dropped to 3 stars are: One hour is not enough time to get around the museum and to read everything that is there. It changes every year so you really do need to red everything to ensure that you haven't missed anything. The ambience has changed in the place (and not for the better). There used to be chanting being sung in the background, this was then changed to only in one area and it has now disappeared altogether. A shame, because it both added to the atmosphere and also promoted the CD that used to be sold there. I don't know if it still is, I was already 30 minutes over my allocated hour so didn't have time to look in the cabinet that housed the shop goods. A little niggle, but it did leave a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth - There is a booking fee for booking online, not mentioned until you are almost at the checkout part. You have to book on line. I know that there are limited spaces due to COVID, but nothing has changed with the restrictions being lifted. (With no option but to book online, the booking fee is an extra little niggle). The staff have changed. I must say that the lady I spoke with was very understanding and listened to what I was saying when I mentioned the above, the man was simply officious and patronizing. Having said all of that, I will go again next year, just as I have done for the last 20 years or so (except of course last year when it was closed). If things have changed, I will amend my rating back to 5 stars that I would...

My experience from this museum comes purely from ordering online. A few months ago I decided to place a large online order with the museum. I'm in the US. The day after I went back and purchased a new magazine that they have started to publish. The first part of the order arrived two weeks after I placed it but was missing 2 items. My thought was that they were going to send it along with the magazine because the items that were missing were books. I had previously emailed them after my purchase of the magazine to confirm that they had the correct address and to comment that the two books were missing but I never heard anything back. After a month of waiting nothing had arrived (they say it can take up to 28 days I waited 35). I then sent an email two without any response. After the second week and nothing arriving and no response I sent a curt email which was responded to within 24 hours. Their response was to tell me they don't check their email often. You're running a museum with an online shop that ships internationally but you don't check your email???? They apologized and said they had forgotten to include the books in the original order and were mailing them immediately with some treats for my trouble and told me that my magazine had already been shipped and it did arrive a day later. The books took almost another month to get here. My treats were two postcards. Overall with my purchases I'm just not impressed with the items I bought. I'm not impressed with the customer service. I wouldn't recommend purchasing from...
