Tucked away off a quiet side road just off the high street, The Napoleon Inn delivers exactly what you want from a classic British pub: comforting food, cold pints, and a warm, no-nonsense atmosphere. We stopped by on a rainy Wednesday evening, and the place was already filling up - a good sign. The menu leans into pub classics without being tired, offering everything from hearty pies to elevated takes on fish and chips.

I went for the vegetarian pasta, garlic, mushroom and spinach, perfectly cooked pasta and an amazing balanced sauce.

My husband had rib-eye steak and honestly, it was one of the best cooked he’s sampled In a while, the chips were amazing and great portion size of mushrooms and tomatoes. Bonus points for the homemade peppercorn sauce. This should appear as a side dish as this was amazing and deserves a menu entry of its own!

The service was friendly without being intrusive, and the staff clearly know their regulars. Shout out to Jo!

Nothing to nitpick. Prices were fair, especially considering the generous portions and quality ingredients.

All in all, Napoleon Inn nails what pub food should be: honest, hearty, and deeply satisfying. I’ll definitely be back—next time for the...

We dined as a larger group. Items were missed off despite pre-booking. The food was okay, but not great. The quality of the steak was poor (supplier problems?) and vegetarian options were limited and not good. Fish was nice, but the Hake order was changed to cod which wasn't mentioned until it was served. Chips were good but vegetables and salad were not great. Every one of the plates at our table was returned at the end of the meal with food on. I wonder if there are different chefs on different nights as our meals were not like the ones recently pictured. Staff were pleasant but seemed run of their feet, despite it not appearing to be particularly busy. If we were visiting the area again, I do not think we would eat here. I would normally give 2 stars but the team seem to be trying to get things together. They haven't got there yet. A quick tip, do not try their sachets of mayonnaise - it was totally rank. Why do places like this but the cheapest condiments? Do yourself a favour Nap Inn, buy...

After an exhausting snd windy day we needed somewhere cozy, with some warm food and a welcoming atmosphere. We got all that and more.

This pub is adorable. The drinks selection was more than ample with 5+ 0% offerings for beer alone (we were driving!) and a large range of cider, wine and spirits.

As vegan diners we are often left feeling a hindrance and a last thought, but not here. We had a choice of seven meals and some deserts. And holy moly… what a meal!

I enjoyed sausage and mash with veggies and onion gravy, and my friend had the new vegan burger (he could choose from three!). His came with skinny fries, slaw and pickles etc. The vegan mayo was delicious as well.

All the staff were super attentive and kind to us, we felt super comfortable and happy. It makes such a difference to be able to choose an option as a vegan diner.

They also had a pub garden and perhaps an outdoor area with a heater (not certain!) so will be lovely for summer too.

Thank...

This beautiful old pub is situated in the heart of Upper Boscastle. It is truly a place worth visiting, offering a winding flow through the bars that often host live music throughout the week. The staff are always bright and cheery, although there is a male barman who may need a little more practice, but one can't fault him for trying his best. The food here is fantastic and has changed a bit over the times I've visited, but has always been delicious, although I have only tried the roasts. The staff are always on top of service and quick to check in to ensure that everything is okay. The bar offers a comprehensive selection of drinks and snacks. It's perfect for a walker looking for a quick break or shelter from the rain, and also a lovely spot for locals to meet and immerse themselves in the culture Boscastle has to offer.

We've been there three times in three days during our last holidays. The first time was merely to try it as we didn't know where else to go, the second time was because we liked it so much, the third time because we wanted to try the sunday roast as well. Both staff and owner were very friendly, helpful and nice. In three days we tried a lot: we had the crab pasta, the cheese board, whitebait, some other fish with prawns, fish and chips and of course the sunday roast, different kinds of local ales and ciders. Everything we tried was very delicious and well prepared! The pub has a nice atmosphere and a lot of events like live music. There is a parking space nearby. (The only thing we didn't like were the lavatories, next time I would try to avoid them.)
