What a magical and mystical place to visit.
Me and my Girlfriend recently visited the Tor, after a long bus journey from the city of cider, Bristol, We decided to take a day trip to the mysterious town of Glastonbury just 2 weeks before the festival started. Her and her family have been to the town many of times (Her middle name is Avalon, says a lot really), So she was keen to introduce me into the spiritual world, and my lord was it a great day.
We started the day by walking through the high street, I played the drum in the African Shop, Maddy bought some lovely smelling incense and we both had a wee in the Pilgrim and George pub. Afterwards, we bought a couple of cans each and off we went on our endeavours son the Tor.
As we left the high street, we made a quick pit stop at the White Spring and drank some love Iron and Calcium water which definitely gave us some energy to ascend to the top of the bloody massive hill which some call the Tor. As we approached the entrance round by the Bridey Bell, We spotted some lovely sheep grazing upon the hill.
Then finally, the ascent. We started our climb up the 518ft mound, Ive never been more excited to see the flat, green, agricultural Somerset landscape. Then the big moment, we reached the top. I was blown away with all the beautiful flat land surrounding the massive Glastonbury Tor. I could see for miles across to the neighbouring towns and the infamous Glastonbury festival out on the horizon. With the Pyramid and Greenpeace stages in front of us, We were surrounded by this magical energy the land is giving to us, Sat upon the Lay Lines connecting us to Stonehenge and Avebury Stones, This really was one magical place.

To climb the tor is a must. It's not particularly steep and has concrete steps most of the way up. We always go up from the Chalice Well side, up the lane and through the gate. The we descend down on the other side which is a more gentle slope, leading down to Bridey Bell and the lane.
It usually fairly busy up there, and windy windy windy. There are usually lost of children, hippies, and dog-walkers.
The hill rises 520-ish feet above the surrounding flat lands of the Somerset Levels, and offers an amazing 360-degree view. You will have stunning views, no matter the weather. You can see to the coast on a good day and even when overcast you can see Brent Knoll to the west.
The Tor is NOT the ancient tower, but is the hill itself. The tower has not always stood on the Tor. The tower is the remains of the 14th-century church of St Michael. It replaced a church destroyed by an earthquake, before that the Romans made use of this hilltop.
There is much history and mystery surrounding the site, including links to the fabled King Arthur of Camelot.
