The sound is STILL utterly awful for live bands!!
I was last here over a decade ago. Nothing has improved. It's still an awful place to go to a live event if you actually want to HEAR the band.
The bass and drums so out of whack that the vibrations vibrate up your entire body and spine - AND the loudness drowns out the vocals and anything else on the stage. The band Bleachers have two saxophone players. At some point you could barely hear the sax! Which are usually blaring loudly.
The opening act sound was so horrendous you could barely hear anything they sung. That's when our hearts sunk... And things did not improve. The sound was off the entire night!
My partner posted on Reddit about the sound as the gig and everyone who responded agreed the sound was horrendous - and with those who had been to Barrowlands before sadly agreeing it's "the norm" for there.
We seen Bleachers at Barn on the Farm in 2023. A very small grassroots festival and the sound was immense. You could hear everything clearly. You'd expect to hear the band better at a "proper indoor gig" but alas not.
There was a major crush happening at the end of the gig with folks pushing to exit, and crowding the areas - and I was using a walking stick. I got pushed backwards off a step and another person thankfully noticed and grabbed me from behind to stabilise me. There was absolutely no security around anywhere to be seen. It all felt very unsafe at the end.
The signage inside the building is also horrendous. My partner and I kept getting lost - and we were sober!
TLDR - Basically the low end...
Read moreI bought 2 tickets to the Bruce Dickinson concert on 18/05/2024 and 1 of the tickets was for my cousin who is in a wheel chair and I had no idea that there were stairs at the Barrowlands and only found out the afternoon of the concert so I called them up just to see what the possibility was of my cousin being able to get in and I spoke to a lovely lady named Linda and I explained the situation. Linda told me that the area for wheel chairs is limited but told me to come to the Barrowlands anyway and ask for Willy so we did just that and we were greeted by a security guard who was great and make us feel very welcomed and assured us that we would get in no problem so we were taken to some side doors in which we were greeted by another security guard (so sorry we did not catch your name) and he used a stair climber to carefully and patiently get my cousin up the stairs and we were then greeted by a lovely usher (sorry again we did not get your name) who escorted us over to the wheel chair section and ensure that my cousin was comfortable/happy. Over all we had a great experience as my cousin has been to some places where it has been the exact opposite but the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to make our evening a brilliant experience with how welcoming and helpful they all were and just in how they went out of their way to ensure we got in and they did it in such a friendly and positive manner and they should be commended as they are all true assets to the Barrowlands staff so thank you all very much...
Read moreUnfortunately my experience of the staff at this venue was far from good on Sunday 30 March 2025. Having bought meet & greet early access tickets for Luke Combs UK tribute the Barrowlands staff had no idea and poor direction from their managers on letting guests in. There was approx 20 people in the queue for 5:45hrs doors open early access and after waiting 15 minutes in the cold we were told there needs to be 70 people in the queue before we could get in. We left to get a heat returning in 15 minutes to find the 20 people had been let in and we had to wait on Paul the “manger”coming to scan our tickets. We waited another 15 minutes before he reluctantly spoke to us to say we were not getting as the meet & greet was finished! Despite paying for early access to front of stage and merchandise he refused to let us in now 30 min to general admission. Stormed off upstairs shouting at us to ask for a refund over his shoulder. This rude unbelievable behaviour was completely unnecessary and certainly reflected bad on the venue. I eventually spoke to Liam the singer and his dad who could not have been nicer both apologising explaining the staff had been provided by the venue and trying to put things right for us. We did get our meet and greet in Maggies Rock n Rodeo arranged by the band. Any other band should be aware of how awful their fans can be treated by staff with no customer care experience. Happy to talk to any management who would like a fuller version of the way we...
