I have lived all over the country and had fish and chips all over, including Rick Steins place, the one in Benllech (which is meant to be the best in Wales) but this is one of THE BEST chippys I have ever been to. It's so unassuming from the outside and a but off the beaten track, and isn't just the best in Llandudno, it's the best - by far.
We had chips & gravy, chicken nuggets (6) and chips, battered sausage and chips and cod and chips. It was all lovely, and after my 14 year old finished off hers, she proceeded to drink the gravy out of the tub. The fish (which i thought was a good portion) was doubled up as he thought they were a bit small - so he gave me an extra fish. All in was £28 and they gave some lollies to my girls.
I don't really like batter that much as it is often a bit greasy, but this wasn't the case at all - it was light, well cooked and tasty. The cod inside was perfect with big flakes of fish inside, and was clearly fresh, not frozen. The chips were perfect. Literally perfect. I would love to have shared some photos, but the food didn't last long enough lol.
The staff were lovely, and were patient with my indecisive family.
I would more than happily go out of my way and get this lovely food than go to a closer chippy and food establishment on the high street.
Support independent, not chain places as otherwise we will lose great little...
Read moreFirst time visit this takeaway. There were no Haddock (as we went quite late, nearly 9pm), and my partner hates cod, but the takeaway was rated as the best fish and chip in the area, so the very hungry us tried the cod. Obviously the cod is not "umami" as haddock that we usually have, however, this cod was the best battered cod I've ever had. The texture very succulent and very similar to haddock, the cod did not have the usual tasteless(quite "sweet" but not as "sweet" as haddock), not dry and flaky taste and textures; and the chips are the best one as well I've ever ate (I usually hate English fish and chips big chuck chips, I'm a fan of french fries :p), I was surprised I could eat a lot of it, the chips was crispy(many of them have both ends with half soft half crispy, that's why didn't make me feel bored of eating them), soft, not dry and not greasy.
The staffs in the shop were so friendly. I went in the times of not busy and ordered large cod and chips, so I'm not sure if small and medium cod are similarly excellent, you can find other reviews to help you this.
I highly recommend this takeaway to people who appreciate their fish and chips to be tasty and delicious. They stated that their cod and haddock were from Atlantic, this could explain why their cod was so much tastier than those...
Read moreVisited here on our way home to buy some fish and chips for my niece. My mum went in and ordered while i stayed in the car with my niece (6yr old) My mum ordered fish and chips and was asked by the lady serving 'salt and vinegar?' to which my mum replied 'no thank you' as my niece hates the taste of vinegar. She sat and waited whilst it was cooked to order to order. She was after about 10 minutes called over to the counter when the order was ready. She left, we set off and my niece was given her food on we were on the road home, a 2 1/5 hour drive. Unfortunately after a few miles it was apparent that the fish and chips were laced with salt and vinegar making it inedible for her, what a waste of money. The women even wrote it down on the order when she took it from my mum. Far too late to turn around and reorder/complain so we had to stop at McDonalds at the services. Check your order and keep an eye on what they are dong. Such a simple order and they couldn't even get that right (she was the only one in the chippy)...
