Fillets Fish & Chips Brighton — Attraction in Great Britain

Took my 10 and 12 year old here for a fish and chip lunch as we were passing by in the car. Customers in the shop at 5 past one and sign said they opened at one pm, lights on, food on the racks ready to serve up. Went in and an aggressive Eastern European chap with a cap running the place started having a go that we had entered when the 'shop wasn't open', telling us he 'doesn't get you english' (unfortunately you get quite a few of us english in Brighton, England 🤔). Intimidating and totally unnecessary. Not just me either, he then gave another poor family with their toddler the same treatment when they came in behind me and the lady commented to her husband after paying on the staffs rudeness. When the food came the cook was still moaning about 'the English' and seemingly his own opening times, this time with his colleague who had just rocked up joining in. Food was OK, but spoilt by the sour taste in my mouth, I can only assume the place must've changed owners as it has strong scores on here and is why I went there. Most certainly won't do so again so no need to worry about us...

Visited here for first time tonight and really enjoyed my meal. Few things caused the five star to drop to four though, of which will mention after some good reviews.. So I am very picky with food outlets and know majority of takeaways in Brighton mess up my order but this place didn't which was a great start. The shop was clean and presentable. No mess seen, the price was reasonable and the chips really enjoyable to eat.. Now the reason I have downgraded a star is because there is a £2.50 charge for delivery.. ( I don't pay you to deliver I pay you to provide my order. If I was like 10 miles I'll happily pay for delivery). The staff didn't seem as friendly as could be. From a customer looking across staff with no personality means either I'm not really valued as a customer.. Or they just don't do the whole interaction in general..

With regards to parking. Arrive after 8 the bays are free except the loading bay outside.. As my guests enjoyed their meals I will be returning all the time my guests are kept fed with a quality meal and no errors.

Make no mistake, this is one of the best chippies in town & by far the best in the Lewes Road area, and should be worthy of 5 stars. Except...

I don't live very near, so I aim to buy food from here on my way home & try to synchronise it with a bus home, of which there is only one every 30 minutes in the evenings. Having once missed a bus due to my food being cooked to order, I now order 10 minutes ahead of time, and politely ask if I can have my food in 10 minutes. This, clearly, does not compute, as on each occasion I have been given my food inside 60 seconds. That's 3 times in a row now that my food sits in a bag getting cold while I wait 10 minutes for a bus. By the time I get it home, it's pretty cold. With winter approaching, this situation is only going to get worse, so I guess this place is off limits for a few months now. I wish I knew how to get them to comprehend this very...
