Great play park but in the evenings the area can change for the worse.
I regularly go to the park area at the level. It's decent park with plenty to do for all ages.
The area is clean and generally the bits in the park are well maintained.
In the summer there is a water park with jets of water and enough space to have a picnic while the children play.
A cafe near the skate park serves up decent pizza which is great for lunch and not that expensive.
The skate park area is good also, always packed with skaters and BMX riders as well as kids who want to go on thier scooters etc. For the most part the users of the skate park are respectful of other people using the level.
The large grass area is always busy in the summer month's however thanks to helpful people smashing up the benches and using them for fires/BBQs in the summer there is very little seating around the edges.
My only real gripes are 1) the public toilets regularly being closed due to victims of Brightons drug problem using them or sadly overdosing in them and 2) some of the groups of peoples behaviour who hang around the edges of the park area adjacent to the skate park leaves a lot to be desired sometimes.
All in all a good place to spend time...
Read moreThe Level is a reasonably sized park located right in the centre of Brighton. There's a decent amount of green space, sectioned off by a walkway that runs through the park—making it a handy shortcut to London Road or other parts of the city. It's generally a pleasant walk during the day, though like with most places, I'd be a bit cautious in the evenings.
The park features a skate park that’s popular with kids on BMX bikes and skateboards, plus a water splash area and enough play equipment to keep younger children entertained (and worn out!). It’s definitely a family-friendly spot.
That said, the park could benefit from a bit of tidying up here and there. It’s not bad by any means, just needs a bit of care to really shine.
Parking can be a challenge since it’s in the city centre—expect it to be both difficult and expensive. If you're driving, it’s best to plan ahead.
I've been coming to The Level for as long as I can remember, and it's always been a staple of Brighton. It even hosts the fair every now and then during the summer, which adds...
Read moreNeed to address rubbish collection. Bins always overflowing. Current bin config not fit for purpose.
However underpinning these observations of someone like me,who has a warm home, is the index atrocity of how corporate Brighton has become. The homeless and needy are literally swept away for 'pride' purposes for example. We need to value and serve ALL people including those who rightly gather among friends in the Level; whose needs for survival do not focus on rubbish or seeking other ways to survive. Instead you seek praise for the council or police for doing their jobs; this shows little empathy or understanding of why their is a problem at the level which is an important place for many disinfranchised fellow citizens and is the real concern here. Be brave Brighton, why not dedicate the Level to the homeless and needy. Provide services and shelter. Somewhere whereby they have a legitimate right to belong and be valued. To have a bath or use the loo. Whereby help can be sought and provided. Even if this is a 3 year plan or...
