I have studied Fashion and textiles at Chandos. I was lucky enough to receive the help from the wonderful Jo Ray, plus Cath and Kate in the digital print room who went out of their way to help me. Thank you for all your kind help. I originally applied for a Fine Art degree in 2011 but left after two months due to teachers at that time excluding me from everything for no reason other than the fact that l was a single parent not worth helping. I was a bit withdrawn from applying again in 2020 when l wanted to do a Masters degree. I wasn't sure if l was going to get the same treatment. I was turned down by Roger Brown in 2020 with no explanation other than l had no experience in Art? This was not the fact, I had three BTEC's in Art, Fashion and Design. He just didn't want me on his course. Case of the wrong face. During my time here, l struggled, was mostly ignored, until l started complaining and had my work put down on many occasions. Some of the Fashion teachers are just rude and bullies. If you're not 18 years old they don't want to know. There is a very arrogant male fashion teacher there. Nasty. Told me l shouldn't be in the room when l am a student working there. There's just no need for being a snob. You're in Derby????? When l used the print room, l was made to feel un-wanted by a person called Martin who had a go at me for apparently taking up the space of all the drying racks? All of the other students had finished their year by this time in May, so l was the only one in there. He didn't want my work or me in the print room, basically. After returning from producing a lot of work l found it all to be ruined. All he kept saying was that it wasn't him and that it's not his fault. So why tell me to put my work there in the first place? He refused to take any responsibility for it and started to gas light me by telling me it was my fault because l had apparently walked in that morning in a bad mood? Oh so l ruined my own work did l? Yes because that would make sense. When l complained about the fixings of a silk screen frame coming loose, Martin replied, "Even a person in a wheel chair can reach it". Vile people. I complained and heard nothing. I ended up in student services upset only to be laughed at by another sadistic man behind the computer that thought it was funny. A lovely lady called Aisling? helped me in that office. What a wonderful lady you are. Thank you. I believe that because of my age at 43, because l was a single mother, that that was the reason for the unfair treatment from them. I was miserable throughout my time here and am mentally in a better place now that these people can't take out their sexual frustrations out on me anymore. Good luck to the people wanting to study here. If you've got the right face and are 18, you'll be fully supported. If you have autism like myself, prepare to be stressed out. No one cares. P.s, Derby is a dead beat city. Glad l left. The area is full of people on...

Read moreI am a very mature student and both my daughters go to the university. I really like it, specifically the quality of the lecturing and support staff, the connections to industry, the laboratory facilities and it’s a nice place. The halls of residence are well kept and very good value 2022/23. For balance, there is very little student on site parking, there is a big council park and a shuttle bus, but if you go in the middle of the day the shuttles are only every hour. The catering is good quality but doesn’t seem very subsidised . I would recommend...
