Went in for one drink with a friend. Sat at the bar having a drink together. 10 minutes in a hand abruptly brushed past us picking up a dirty 'knuckle-duster tea mug' and a voice that angrily said "This is my tea mug! Don't worry! It's fine!". I was slightly taken aback by this strange person's territorial behaviour and aggression in my befuddled state said, "Yes, I know it's fine".
He became even more agitated and shouted "There is no need to be rude!"
I calmly responded by saying that "I didn't feel I had been rude"
He then shouted: "Yes, you are rude! YOU IGNORANT PRICK!" Then he stormed off and I didn't see him again.
I was quite taken aback by his unnecessary attitude and behaviour.
5 minutes later one of the barmaids asked me what happened. I told her the story and she said: "Oh, well, he was sat there before you arrived, so you'd taken his place but he'd finished his tea so it's ok. He's my other half but he's normally quite friendly, but he was fixing the internet and maybe he just didn't like your rugby shirt".
The two barmaids brushed it off and didn't offer any real apology on his behalf or offer us a free drink or anything to make up for the incident.
It's ridiculous that a brand new customer in a Pub should be made to feel so uncomfortable and even insulted for sitting on some empty seats at a bar near where a member of staff had left their empty tea mug.
Never going back - awful attitude...
Read moreVisited this Pub on Friday 9th July with a group of friends - first impressions were good it was nice to see a pub with lots of nooks and crannies HOWEVER my impressions changed when I attempted to buy a round of drinks with my card - I was informed by the waitress my card had been declined. This was embarrassing to say the least in the company of a group of friends. I paid by cash. Over the weekend I checked my bank statement only to find that the pub had debited my card in addition to receiving a cash payment so I paid double the cost for the order. I would like a refund of the overpayment - I have visited the pub today and called and left messages but so far the manager hasn't been in touch.
In summary great ambience but check your...
Read moreI love this pub. Great selection of beer and authentic interior. Great location. Perfect for a quick pint on the way home from a busy day, a few drinks with friends or a pit - stop for families on a sunny afternoon. It's an incredibly versatile pub and suitable for any occasion. Plenty of beautiful memories during Summer time with pop-up food vans in the beer garden and good company. The service, however, could do with being just a little more refined and attentive with better pace and engagement. Friendly enough when eventually served but indifferent approach to both people and beer (and hygiene) which doesn't quite match the rest of...
