I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kilma Hotel during my visit to York, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome and provided outstanding service throughout my stay. The hotel staff were not only friendly but also exceptionally helpful. I had to depart before breakfast was served, and when I mentioned this to the staff, they kindly prepared a delicious bag of breakfast to go for me. It was such a thoughtful gesture that went above and beyond my expectations. One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel's swimming pool. It was well-maintained and offered a refreshing retreat after a long day of exploring the city. The added bonus of the steam room made the experience even more enjoyable. It was a perfect way to unwind and relax. I was thoroughly impressed with Kilma Hotel and its excellent amenities. The clean and comfortable rooms, coupled with the exceptional service, made my stay truly memorable. The attention to detail and the dedication of the staff to ensure a pleasant experience for their guests was remarkable. Without a doubt, I will choose Kilma Hotel for my future visits to York. The combination of friendly and helpful staff, along with the fantastic swimming pool and steam room, creates an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend Kilma Hotel to anyone looking for a top-notch accommodation option in York.

Friendly welcome on arrival and throughout our stay. The bed was really comfortable and had no problems sleeping. The room was large and had all the items you need like a tv, kettle, ironing board etc. The rooms are slightly dated but at the same time fell fresh and airy, I would stay here again. My only one small complaint is why are there no plug sockets next to the bed, like must people I need to charge my phone and watch up and like them next to the bed, not a massive problem any means but something I personally like when staying in hotels. Also no usb sockets. 10-15 minute gentle walk in to the town centre. Would I stay here again, more than likely as long have no complaints and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was amazing and the waitress was lovely this morning, nothing was to much trouble. Limited parking available and train station not to far away. They do not do evening meals but are happy for takeaway to be brought back to your room.

Service ok location great. Rooms are seriously of poor standard £225 for 2 nights stay plus £20 for parking to stay in a room that should be in a museum. Or at best featuring on antiques roadshow!!! It’s unbelievably outdated. In 2025 which hotel still has physical keys to enter a room. The carpet and decor is from the late 80’s / early 90’s the window is held open by a bit of wood one window is completely in operable. Feel as though I’ve been well and truly ripped off. Floorboards creek not a positive experience. Bathroom in need of major refurbishment (surprised it’s not in avocado colours) Hyacinth Bouquet would not have been impressed with this. I wasn’t expecting the Marriott / Hilton / plaza standard although that may have been cheaper but this was Very poor for a best western will not be stopping again. !! I’d rather stay in a Britannia hotel or a travelodge than this. Business traveller no banana for scale on the photos.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. It is only because there were not other options that I did not immediately walk out and ask for a refund. I would have tried to wash my self clean if my only option hadn't been a bathroom that was old, dirty and useless. The rooms are very old and tired and the whole place feels like it hasn't been done up or cleaned properly in 30 years. It is really a terrible place and should not be in the Best Western chain. Whilst I waited for a room I sat on the terrace next to a crisp bag with a dirty nappy in it. Once I got to the room it was awful. the window is tiny and everything felt dirty. The bathroom was disgraceful. Everything was old and dirty. Nothing really works like it should in a modern day hotel and this is a relic of a really awful time of cheap hotels in the past. The bed was two singles pushed together and sold as a double (at £175 a night when I stayed!), the pillows were thin and horrid, there is a tiny TV and really awful lighting. There is no room service to really speak of. There is nothing nice in your room, if you want coffee etc the is a communal station in the hallway. It is in an annoying part of town but luckily York is small enough to walk around easily. It gets one star from me because two things were good, the people were nice enough and the internet worked well; also there is no way to give zero stars on a rating. Honestly do not stay here, it is really a terrible place which should have been renovated over a decade ago. Do yourself a favour and stay literally anywhere...

Best Western by name but far from best on accommodation.|Externals paint a fairly accurate picture of our room (17), in serious need of modernisation and dated.|No idea when but they have started large extension to the rear but looks like nothing happened for a long time based on weeds around the building site.|Car park is a mess and not fit to charge £10.00 for as it is part of building site.|Staff friendly and helpful which is the only positive from our stay.|Room is a 1980's museum, and poorly maintained bathroom, clean but fusty smell.|Bed surprisingly comfortable but poor night sleep due to badly fitted door and light into room. No way to manage the room temperature with a plug in fan which made no difference to uncomfortable temperature.|Bathroom window lacked privacy from window on access ramp to car park as blind missing.|Bathroom is in a serious need to be refitted, decoratrd and modernused.|Shower and water pressure great likd a fire hose but hot watet on sink dangerously hot and needs checking & turning down.|Self service table in hallway for tea and coffee unusual but handy for us as literally outside our room|Did not get chance to use facilities such as pool, bar, restaurant as we were at York races so can't comment on.||Summary, Best Western Kilima, finish extension ASAP and close and refurb original hotel.|Good location for race course circa 25 minute walk...
