Can only say good things about the bike hub and the people running it/working there. My son went along to one of their group learn to ride sessions, and while it was a bit of a disaster for him, that wasn't through their lack of teaching and encouragement, he doesn't do well with group lessons. It was lovely to see all the other kids in the group progressing at varying speeds and the games being tailored so they included everyone's different stages. My son even retained a good amount of what they were taught due to how well they calmed him and tried to help him. He even ended the session happy due to them managing to calm him and encourage him to do the last exercise at his ability level.
We then went back to the bike hub at the end of the session and, after enquiring about one to one lessons were introduced to Nick. He had a chat with us and got an idea of what my son's issues were, spent a good 5 minutes on a bike with him and got him happy and balancing on the bike again, ending the session on an even more positive note.
We had our one to one session with Nick yesterday evening, he is absolutely amazing. Took the time to get to know my son and how he learnt, got him to help get the bike ready so he could familiarise himself with it, we used one of their bikes this time on his recommendation due to them being lighter, all included in the price! He kept the session fun and within my son's limits, while gently pushing him to try harder things to advance, checking he was taking things in and remembering them, and just making my son fully fall in love with cycling. We didn't manage to progress to one pedal yet, but hopefully that will be the next session! We tried, but he decided he wasn't ready, so Nick took it back off instead of trying to force him. Nick also had his son with him, an absolute credit to him, and isn't far off being as good a teacher as Nick! My son adored him and loved cycling next to him. We both came away from the session extremely positive, and my son didn't stop talking about the lesson for ages, and he's not a big talker!
I cannot recommend these guys enough, if you're struggling to get your kid cycling, don't hesitate to...
Read moreCalled in on the Saturday before the school holiday to inquire about my daughter learning to ride her bike, the staff were very friendly and showed me what to do to make her bike into a balance bike, then showed my daughter what to do and let her have a go on one of their bikes to practice, called back on the Thursday so that she could show she could balance on her bike, went away for a while for her to practice some more, then put her pedals back on so she could pedal herself on her bike, called back again to ask for advice on how to pedal herself without me holding her and letting go so she could pedal, the staff came and showed her how to pedal herself, and kept on reassuring her, we popped down on Sunday and my daughter showed him that she was able to pedal herself on her bike, I didn't manage to get his name, I would just like to thank him for taking the time to show my daughter how to ride her...
Read moreExcellent place to hire bikes from. Useful info: follow the signs for the visitor centre, the Bike Hub is attached to that. we arrived about 11am on a school holiday weekday. Plenty of bikes available. super helpful staff, will give you locks and helmets and map. They will adjust height of seat/check you're happy before leaving we hired for the day as it was £10 more than 3 hours for 3 bikes and a trailer we cycled to Ironbridge and back which was nearly all off the road and with lots of markers along the way. route was good for the trailer and our 7 year old on a bike, fairly flat. kids enjoyed cycling over Ironbridge and through the various tunnels/bridges on the way.
I expect we'll be back next time we're in the area. The park it's set in is a wonderful area of lakes, gardens, play parks, activities and golf (you can cycle round...
