Usually our favourite place to eat but last night was definitely an exception. We were booked in as part of a party of 16 for my granddaughters birthday meal. First impression of where we were sat was the carpet was an accident waiting to happen! There was a big patch that was ripped, pulled and frayed and just left for someone to trip over. At least cut off the pulls so nobody can trip, carpet would still look an eyesore though. Starter's were good no concerns with those. Then my 9 year old daughter had the 5oz grilled gammon. She asked me to cut up the gammon because she was struggling, that was because it was all squidgy inside as it wasn't cooked so we sent it back. Staff asked if we would like another or something different. My daughter wanted the same again. Staff said it would be about 15 minutes so i said 'just pop it back in the pan for 5 mins' The dirty look I received from the staff member as she walked off was un called for. To be honest that was only a little better for my liking but she was hungry and wanted to try it. Needless to say she didnt eat much of it and I'm just waiting on an upset tummy to follow. One person from the party their bread was rock hard and two people found a hair in their meal. ( not sure if they complained) probably thought what's the point! After the food we asked over time 3 different staff members to bring out the birthday cake, it was at least 20 minutes from asking the last staff member before that happened. Everybody including the 6 year old birthday girl was getting abit restless by now. So all in all last night was my worst experience at Wrekin Giant and it really puts me off giving them another try, even with so many positive experiences previously. Sometimes it just takes that one...
Read moreBooked our annual Christmas meal with a table for 12 on 20th July for 4.30pm on Saturday 30th November at The Wrekin Giant in Telford. We arrived early at 4.15pm to be told our reserved table had been taken. There were a LOT of empty tables, maybe that should have been our clue to go somewhere else. We moved small tables to create enough space for all of us and we were offerred blue light discount of 15% from our bill. Blue light is a special discount for retired workers & members of the emergency services, which should always be accompanied by proof of identity so that it is not misused. We all placed our orders, having to change what we wanted when a few were not available. Dishes arrived in dribs and drabs. While in most cases the 'meat' was freshly cooked and hot the accompaniments were either cool, cold, undercooked or burnt. One dish the burnt smell was so strong we could all smell it coming, all the vegetables on the Sizzler plate were burnt in place. Pudding, when it arrived was interesting, apple crumble with extra berries on the side. It took 4 attempts to get my order right, with the manageress coming over to say the waitress who delivered the first wrong pudding was only new and was upset that it had been wrong and sent back. I did not berate or raise my voice at this young girl, most of the servers were young and appeared to be new. There were many empty tables and after our experience we could understand why. After using this restaurant for many years we are looking at an alternative for next year.

A very good drinks menu, with lovely choices of cocktails and much more. The food was superb, excellent value for money. Kelly was so helpful with the food order, incredibly polite and friendly ;-) Excellent Service. Child friendly, great children’s menu. There are booths with Children’s TV’s programmes on. Happy families! Wheelchair friendly. Situated next to Telford Park, with fantastic facilities for families. We visited again, the service was excellent and attentive. Food was delicious, The Ultimate Big Candymania. My two tackled this, spoons at the ready and failed! This pudding would feed three little ones or two adults easily. Heaps of ice cream and cream and sprinkles…delicious! The Strawberry Dream Chocolate Frappe was thoroughly enjoyed by my daughter. It is a hot chocolate with ice, very tasty and fantastic price at £2.99. Once again a lovely and delightful evening. Thank you ;-) *Update: visited again on a Friday evening, we used the App for the first time. To be mindful some of the photographs of the foods can be misleading. We questioned with the Manager, she was polite and offered another food to accompany what we had ordered (Thank you) The App doesn’t provide refunds as promised, mine was only a coffee so nothing to be concerned but if it was more, that’s a worry. There was a GREAT ELVIS Tribute act, a fabulous surprise - great fun! 🕺🏽🎤 Staff very helpful and friendly as always, a really nice team,...
