Decided to try this playcentre with my daughter while on holiday so it was my first time there. I was unsure as I had read a few bad reviews however I never let bad reviews cloud my decision and I am glad I booked as it was a decent experience and my daughter loved it.
Yes, in parts it seemed a little run down (particularly the outside areas which did resemble the grounds of somewhere closed down for several years, with faded signs and an entrance door which I am glad opened automatically because it did not look like the way in).
Inside we were greeted by very friendly staff and it was not that busy so my daughter enjoyed her time there. We had out temperature taken on entry which was comforting with COVID still a concern. The equipment, tables and toilets were clean and good state of repair. There is a cafe serving hot food as well as usual refreshments you would expect. Slightly on the expensive side but the entrance for the child is reasonable for 2 hours play so you don't really mind.
My only gripe which really is no reason to judge the facility on, was the coffee. Probably the worst cup of coffee I have ever had. Very weak and didn't taste of coffee much so this could be somewhere the centre can look to improve because at £2.35 (or around that) I felt a bit cheated out of a nice cuppa. It is a machine that makes it but it would have been a better cup if you used instant coffee from a tin and smaller mugs. Just a thought, as I say it is not a judgement on the facility which I thought was one of the best I...
Read moreMy partner was disgusted by Clamber's admission fees. He took four grandchildren to Clambers this morning at 10.00. The entrance was £36 {8.50 per child, 2.00 per adult) for a 2 hour visit. (even though website advertises admission £8.00 per child). Compare this to Leo's Play Den in Eastbourne which is £1.50 for adults and £4.00 per child and you can stay all day. When my partner used the toilet when he first arrived at Clambers, the bin was still one-third full of refuse. But the main gripe is the cost of entrance . Clambers used to stamp the hand and you could come and go . It used to be a great place to take kids and I used to take my own kids there during the 1970's - 1980's. Clearly Clambers has a monopoly on this type of soft play provision in Hastings otherwise can't imagine how they get away with charging so much for so little. We see no reason ever to return to Clambers which is a big shame as this area badly needs good provision for under 10's play activities especially as our present climate often limits outside activities. Even with taking into account the cost of driving to Eastbourne it is still better value for an entire day of fun rather than a measly 2 hours...
Read moreWe hadn’t visited Clambers for a while, but thought we’d try again on Sunday afternoon. Overall not impressed. The place looks tired and dirty, and the prices are expensive for what it is and because you only get 2 hours. It cost £8 for my 2 year old and my husband and I had to pay £2 each just to be there. There were also a load of teenagers running around and play fighting, several other parents had to say something before anyone got involved and a manager came out with only 10mins left of the play session. From what I’ve heard the big outdoor space hasn’t been open all summer either. There’s plenty of competition locally for soft play and I can see why clambers is so quiet compared to them now. Feels like the owners have got greedy, charging more money for limited time and poor facilities. I’m sure Clambers will follow Pup Station and close down eventually. Oh and the food was...
