Pier Catch — Local services in Hastings

Local here. Have been to this place twice now, first time was not great, but I gave it a second go cos the location is so convenient for the beach. The fish I was served today was probably the second worst I have had in 2.5yrs in Hastings. Batter incredibly greasy and flabby, pretty much inedible. The quality of the fillet itself was not too bad, so the fault is with the effort put in by the cook. It looks like this place needs to be more careful who it hires as others have had great experiences here, I assume due to a different cook being on duty. Anyway, two strikes and you're out - I will not be coming back here. 1 star is even been generous, did not get to try the food as service was refused at the DOOR. Could it have be because we're black? Or a family? Which most businesses would welcome as it means more money spent in your establishment? The reaction(facial) of the management as we approached the door said it all, were was that welcoming smile you should always greet customers with? Ordered 2 medium and 1 large cod. 2 small chips and 3 sausages. 2 girkins and 3 cans. At just under £45 i was expecting quite a decent sized meal. What we got was 2 tiny pieces of cod, one slightly bigger, and a lot of undercooked soggy batter. I should have known better as it was empty on a Friday night. Then I was asked if I wanted all 3 pieces of cod in the small box provided which made me wonder how big they were. Really dislike these posh pop up fish and chip shops. Lots of paper very neatly wrapped, nice looking boxes, lovely inside, and then you get a tiny meal for twice the cost of the decent places, which Hastings has plenty of.
