We visited this free to enter museum in Hastings in an old converted chapel. It's a historical journey of the local fishing community and their history and sad losses. It explains a lot, loads of old photographs of people and boats and is a time capsule that is worth a visit, it's free and reliant on donations so chuck a crispy fiver in the font to keep this place alive for future generations to understand the what, the how and why. Your fish cakes have to come from somewhere not just the supermarket !!! It's the dedication of those brave fisherman who risk all for reward in some atrocious conditions to get that cod on his lordship plate. Pay up people it needs it
5 star just for education of those visiting who live so far from the...
Read moreThis is a special trove of absolutely wonderful treasures. We could not love it more and it is always high on our list of things to do in Hastings. It's a really heartfelt collection of all things fisherman. It really made me stop and think - as a Londoner and buying a lot of my food from a supermarket - I didn't really stop to think about the men doing all that work to get my fish to me. It's really humbling and made me really want to support our fisherman - buying responsibly souced seasonal fish from our own coasts. The boat in the middle makes me sea sick even though it's stationary!! My daughter loves to look at everything and there is something everywhere that you look. If you've not been, please go and support this...
