Natural Beauty and Tranquility

Surrounded by mature woodlands, High Lea Park offers serene walking paths that lead to the New Mills Community Orchard. The park's well-maintained gardens and seasonal wildflower meadows add to its charm, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.

The park serves as a hub for community events, hosting the annual One World Festival in July and the New Mills Town Council's bonfire and firework display in November. These events bring together locals and visitors alike, fostering a strong sense of community spirit.

Historical Significance

At the heart of the park stands High Lea Hall, an 18th-century building that now houses a café and the New Mills Heritage Centre. Visitors can enjoy locally sourced snacks and learn about the area's rich history through interactive exhibits and a miniature railway display. The café is open from Thursday to Sunday, offering a cozy retreat within the park.

The park is well kept, the grass is cut short and is well maintained.

The play equipment is appropriate for all age ranges, there is a dedicated area for the smaller ones and then more adventurous stuff for the older kids.

There is a gym area which is again well maintained.

There are football nets and a basketball hoop at the top of the park.

A decent nature walk can be had if you follow the trail through the trees and into the woods.

There are no toilet facilities at this park and no amenities such as a cafe or shop.

The parks in Derbyshire are usually well kept and this one is no exception! They really show the lack of spending that stockport make on their parks! It's great that we need to nip into another county to use a decent park!

I would definitely recommend this place to any families that like to spend time together in the...

Great park for children of all ages. As well as all the playground equipment, there is also a walk through the woods and ornamental gardens up near the old Hall. In the old Hall on from Thursday's onwards the cafe is open currently from 11:00 a.m. The cafe sells the delicious Ginge ice cream which is made locally. Please note the cafe is closed from Monday to Wednesdays currently. There is also a museum in the Hall with an interactive miniature railway and a lot of details from old new mills and a little shop. Also a toilet for people for less able people. Absolutely well worth a visit.

Lovely park in New Mills. It has a nice little memorial garden which is very pretty and well maintained, there's an adult gym with lots of apparatus and not forgetting the numerous climbing frames and slides. The park has developed a lot in terms of facilities since I was a child and there's a large bit of greenery at the back with two football nets which is usually used for community festivals just like the bubbleologist session in my picture

A big well cared for park, often the scene of local events. Large play areas for children of various ages and abilities, small but pretty gardens. Wooded area and lots of room for picnics. Parking is very limited. Now the home of New Mills Heritage centre which has a great local history section and small cafe
