Riverside Park has postcard-grade sceneries. It’s green and tidy, with multiple playgrounds for kids, benches for elders, a funny miniature railway we can ride on (when open, as it's run by volunteers), plenty of picnic benches. This park is loved by the local resident who take good care of it: it's very tidy and clean of rubbish. A green island of quietness in the heart of the town. On the edge, there is a nice café and public toilets, and a convenient car park. Moreover, it’s easy access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters, buggies and prams, it’s safe to cycle or roller-skate on most of the time. If you go with kids, don’t forget to take a foot ball to play on the large open lawns. The shallow ponds and river arms that cross this park are full of wildlife that’s funny to watch with the kids, like the large variety of birds and ducks swimming on the water. As it’s not far from the city centre, we stay connected online through our mobile phone. On sunny days, it’s a pleasure to take our laptop there, sit under a tree and have a day working from home in this beautiful park. Also live streamers and instagrammers loves it. On lockdown, this park was a destination of choice for those who could leave their house only once a day for doing some exercise. Read moreBeautiful park on the banks of the River Great Ouse, with so much space for families to gather, have a picnic, friends to meet to play games, walk the dog (on the lead). There’s a pond, by the restaurant & ice cream bar, with Swans, ducks, moorhens, coots, heron. Atmosphere just lifts the spirits whatever the weather. On Sundays in the summer there are regular band performances. The elevated cafe has covered outside space too overlooking the pond. There are two children’s play areas either end of this jewel of a park, which extends the other side of the main road. This side of the park there are annual events here, like one of the largest 2day Regatta events in the country, Dragon boat racing, funfairs...
Read moreLovely park, plenty of flat land for picnics and a few picnic benches for those that don’t want to sit on the floor!
The Ouse runs on one side with a smaller river leading to a pond next to Ambiance cafe. Loads of dogs as a popular dog walking area but plenty of alternative routes should you wish to avoid dogs or if you have a reactive dog miss other dogs.
Loads of swans and ducks great to feed them wheat (not bread as it’s harmful to them). I am unsure if there’s a nearby place to get wheat from.
Ambiance is a lovely cafe next to a park so you can have ice creams and coffee whilst the kids play.
There is the miniature railway in riverside as well which makes for a fun day out...
