I visited the restaurant for the first time this evening and this will be the last time I will be going there as well. We were a group of 11, there should have been 14, but 3 people could not make it due to being ill. We booked over a month in advance and paid a deposit, so they were fully aware that we were coming. I have never experienced such appalling service. We had to ask twice for someone to come and take our food order, that finally happened 1 hour after we arrived. Someone's drink never turned up with everyone else's and she only ordered water, she had to keep asking for it. Then there was no sign of our food, so someone asked the waiter how long it was going to be and then it finally came, this was after another hour of waiting. After we ate we ordered 2 glasses of water and a J2O, shouldn't have been surprised really when they didn't turn up and we had to chase them up as well. There were people that turned up way after us and had ordered, eaten and left way before us. When we told the staff that the service was not very good, they were rude to us. They kept making excuse after excuse. Apparently we should have been told upon arrival they like their customers to sit and relax and chat and not feel rushed like some places do and then the customer let the staff know when they are ready to order. Apparently us asking twice and sitting there with the menus closed was not a good indication that we were ready. Normally in restaurants if the waiter comes over and I am not ready, I just ask for 5 more minutes which they are happy to do. The man that was dealing with us, he might have been the manager or head waiter as he had tie on was getting very loud and angry with us. One of the ladies was telling the man how we all felt, that we were not happy and disappointed and he said I am not dealing with you, I will deal with the other end of table and walked off. They said they were going to keep the £10 deposit for 3 people they couldn't come. They didn't not want to come, they were ill with this bug thing going around. They eventually let us have all the deposit of the bill and gave a 10% discount. The only good thing was the food was lovely. I don't think they can cope with large parties, we did suggest that maybe make large parties pre order their food so they get it ready. I don't think it would have been as bad, if they just apologized to start with instead of getting angry with us. Won't be...

Read moreMy husband and I visited Olive on Friday 25th September to celebrate our wedding anniversary which turned out to be a great choice. On arrival, and after a quick Covid-19 temperature check, we were shown to our table. The restaurant is modern and clean in design and there was plenty of space between tables (a result of the Covid-19 restrictions I suspect). After being given a few moments to settle in, we ordered poppadams, wine and water which arrived with little delay. The highlight was the pickle tray, which was generous and has a couple of new ones for us; a chili and garlic pickle and a tomato based one. Starters we had Railway Chili Fry Paneer and Spinach and Potato Tikki, both were generous and tasty. The Chili Fry Paneer had something sweet and sour about it which was an interesting change from the usual Indian restaurant fare. Both delicious. Keralan Jumbo Prawn Curry (with rice and paratha) and the Tandoori Bazaar Selection (The chef’s selection from the Tandoor menu) and a Naan followed. As with the starters these could not be faulted. All the food was well spiced and generously portioned. Service was polite and knowledgeable I’m looking forward to going back and trying some more of the diverse menu (tak tak is next on the list) - I suspect Olive will also become a take away...
