Bangor Castle Walled Garden — Attraction in Ireland

Had a tour of the walled garden as past of a Memory Cafe morning held in Bangor... The guide was knowledgeable and passionate about His job. Even with a hose pipe ban, the staff had maintained the gardens to the best of their ability and their struggles against the Sun paid off as they were able to show many Blooms and share the fascinating stories behind the layout and landscaping... I saw a demonstration of coracle making, captive birds of prey and an archery have a go an open day. The cafe looked good and the loos were clean. I will be back to explore it some more as there was clearly a lot of history about the location and the castle seemed well maintained and run. I was there for enjoyable foray of the fungus and I learnt a good deal from the information labels identifying the different trees. Can’t recommend this enough for a visit. Not only is it free and easy to park at, but it is a beautifully kept garden. My visit was in June, which is probably one of the best times of year to visit as the place was vibrant and colourful. The garden is sizeable and cleverly split into several different sections each with a unique purpose and feel.
