Having previously used the hotel for business myself and my partner decided to stay when we visited the island on our holiday.
Our stay was ok, the rooms are very old and there were damp patches everywhere, however it was clean enough and the location very good. It is worth mentioning that the room is extremely warm so if you are travelling in the Summer months or get hot easily take a fan. We were pleased we did! There is no parking on site, we parked at a public car park around the corner. When we were initially greeted and checked in, the bar man was very pleasant and reasonably efficient.
Breakfast was lovely, a good selection of cereal, fruit, yogurt, fruit juice etc and you could also pick an option from the hot menu which was lovely. A nice feature was that you could eat outside overlooking the harbour.
The problem however, and the unfortunate reason I felt compelled to write this review was the unhelpful service we received once we had left the hotel.
I realised at about 10.30 at night that I had left my phone charger plugged in in the room we had stayed in so I phoned the hotel and explained the situation. The gentleman on the phone was helpful enough and told me that there was someone in the room now so he was unable to go and have a look, however checkout was at 11am and he would leave a note for the Manager and House Keeping to check in the morning.
He didnāt ask to take my number to keep me updated so I gathered he would contact me on the phone number we left for our booking. I explained we were leaving the Island in the morning and would need to know as early as possible. He simply reiterated that he would leave a note and if we wanted to go out of our way to pop in on the way home we could.
By 10.30 the next morning I hadnāt heard anything so I phoned the hotel myself. After 4 attempts to get through I was finally successful and had got no further than a few words into my explanation of the situation when I was abruptly cut off by an extremely rude man (who we think was the owner) who said he was aware of the situation, had got the note and the people in the room had checked out so housekeeping would check.
I politely explained that we were leaving the island now and asked if there was any way he could check for me whilst I was on the phone? He huffed, puffed and made me feel like a huge inconvenience. He said he was in the middle of something and extremely busy and would not check. I would have to wait. He told me to call back later. His response made me feel so uncomfortable and upset that once hanging up the phone I decided to leave it and it would be easier to buy a new phone charger rather than have my holiday ruined by a rude Scottish man who clearly couldnāt care less now he had our money.
An enjoyable stay unfortunately ruined by the owner of the establishment. We will not be back or recommending the hotel. My company who uses the hotel on a regular basis will also not be booking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent for lunch on Sunday 18th February with my partner and his son.
We arrived at 2.30 and ordered 2 chicken burgers and chips and chicken breast in peppercorn sauce and chips from the savers menu and a coke a water and a coffee at the bar.
Got given the coke, and was told they would bring the rest over to our table.
5 mins later the water arrived at the table.
5 mins after that food arrived. We asked the waitress where our coffee was she said if was on itās way.
We proceeded to start eating the the meals and another member of staff asked how everything was, we explained still no coffee she replied (Oh itās probably on itās way) and left us.
With in a minute another staff member asked if we were ok? We again said no coffee yet, this staff member did ask the barman who then made the coffee and bought it over saying sorry I forgot (laughing)
I had eaten some chips onion rings and peas only off my plate and finally tried the chicken it was a bit odd tasting but I tried another few mouthfuls and then jumped up and ran to the toilets to be sick. The chicken was slimes and watery and cold in the Centre.
I care out of the toilet and quietly explained to the staff member behind the bar I had been sick because of the chicken.
His response Iāll tell the chef and then walked away to serve the bar customers.
I returned to the table, and told my family about being ill from the chicken, both of there meals had been average but edible, Next waiter came over 5th person to ask his things were and I explained I couldnāt eat the meal as the chicken was off and slimey, and I wanted a refund for my meal which is I paid for in advance btw. I was told the would tell the chef, and it looked like Iād eaten some chips and onion rings. So no refund and they took the plates and walked away.
We had to catch the red jet at 3.15 or I would of caused a scene.
Why send do many people over to our table asking if itās ok if your going to ignore the feeback from your customers.

Read moreVery, very friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Nice breakfast. Good drinks in the pub. Great location. Well Covid prepared. Rooms a bit small and dated. Few things need fixing like the toilet seat being very loose in the room and the hot tap not properly connected to the sink. Shower not the best neither. Just needs an odd job man to go through the place and sort it out. I was in room 16 by the way. Main issue is that on Expedia, who I booked the stay with, it said free parking included. Now there is no parking on site but they direct you to a close by payable car park which isn't refunded by the hotel. We were told on checking in that it's £1.50 overnight, which still didn't make sense to me because my first thought was, what about through the day? Basically, it's £7.20 per 8-24hrs. Between 18.00 and 08.00 is actually free but chargeable between 08.00 & 18.00. So a considerable extra charge that we were not expecting. The owners said they had told Expedia about this but they hadn't updated their site. Apart from this a...
