The Woodlands is ideally situated below the castle and at the start of many walks through the grounds around the harbour so is a perfect place for a coffee and quick lunch. I had the pesto pannini which was tasty and hot and the coffee was ok , definitely not the best ive had in Stornoway but then there is some competition today.

In the shadow of Lews Castle. Lovely walk around the headland followed by a wholesome, homemade lunch. They have: sandwiches, toasties, soup, jacket spuds... Plus cake. Family friendly but still pleasant atmosphere for those with friends.

Lovely little place nestled in the trees below the castle. Offers fairly casual food, usual cafe stuff like soup, sandwiches, toasties etc. Inexpensive place to eat. Some vegetarian/vegan options available.

As we approached the Woodlands centre, from the low path, we passed an amazing huge carving of a chess piece. In front of the centre there are great outdoor seating with tables, to enjoy the outdoors by the trees while having a meal and drink. The building itself is very artitectual, with big windows to enjoy the woodland view. Inside is wonderful, full of wood structures. The cafe is very clean, spacious and homely. A warm atmosphere and lovely friendly helpful staff. The food was delicious, the meal with drinks was under twenty pounds, which is very reasonable. There is a nice cosy upstairs with settees if you wish to relax with a cup of tea. In the woodlands centre is a little artistic home made crafts shop area where you can buy some souvenirs of local crafts. From here also there is information about hiring sedgeways the two wheeled gizmos with an upright handle, great for young and old alike to ride to explore the woodlands with. Our experience of the woodlands centre left us feeling positive, we would go again and recommend that you try out this...

Food was nice,we sat outside as we had our dog with us.I really would have expected better, the tables outside were dirty dog bowls had green like moss or algae on the bottom of them inside ,bins were full and overflowing and therefore rubbish was all round as the birds had been scavenging from them.Really would have expected much better than this.If it's as dirty as this now how do they manage in the summer when they have tourists. Food...

Very disappointing visit. The food was fine. My colleague had the soup and sandwich deal. I opted for the same though asked if I could have wrap rather than sandwich. Apparently not, if you want a wrap it's full price, no deal. I was told "wraps are very expensive" who knew. Perhaps everywhere else I have had soup and wrap haven't realised yet. To top it all his"deal" came with crisps while my full...
