This has been a long overdue review. Me and my family visited in June. We were only in Stornoway for a few days and went twice! The atmosphere and food were beyond incredible! Brilliant staff, massive shout out to Torcoll & Andy who made our evenings one to remember. Being Gluten and Dairy free, it’s hard to find great food to select from and WOW! This did not disappoint! Wide selection and adaptions suited for us. The staff were incredible and helpful regarding this. If I ever visit Stornoway again, will absolutely be returning. Images are from both nights. Thank you HS-1!!

Excellent! My first visit will be the first of many. HS1 is warm and cosy, with contemporary decor and lighting. The staff were friendly and had the right balance of attentiveness. I had the ramen with salmon, and it was delicious. The broth was perfectly seasoned, and the salmon was perfectly cooked. It was ultimately comforting on a cold winter's night. The portion size was probably more than I needed, but it was so good that I couldn't help finishing it all. It's fairly pricey, but since everything was so good, it turned out to be good value.

We ended up here 2 nights in a row as there aren't many options in Stronoway on a Monday and Tuesday night. I had the Kilo Pot of Mussels one night and the Braised Beef Stack the second night. Definitely recommend the mussels. We didn't have reservations so ended up waiting about 40 mins for a table the first night (arrived around 8pm) and only about 15 mins the second night (arrived around 6pm). Great vibe and service. Quality food. Mussels portion is huge.

Stumbled upon this wonderful place whilst walking into town from my B&B. It looked busy from the door and I was grateful when they managed to squeeze me in.

I mostly cook from scratch at home and it’s rare to find restaurants where wholesome, fresh and tasty food is served. This was like going to a friend’s house for dinner. I absolutely loved the chicken & veg stir fry, which was full of perfectly cooked, colourful vegetables (pak Choi, peppers, onions, mushrooms, spring onions, herbs and ginger), lightly battered, quality chicken and egg noodles (thank you chef, whoever you are). Totally worth every penny. For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding and this was also a complete delight. The waiting staff were also incredibly welcoming and pleasant despite the endless stream of people trying to get a table. I hope to be back sooner rather than later so I can try some of the other dishes on the menu. Don’t miss this...

Great food in a lovely restaurant but service was poor.

Ate here on a Saturday night. There's no booking system, just turn up and see how long for a table. Told it would be a half hour wait so said we'd wait on the window seats and have a drink. There was quite a wait before anyone took a drinks order and another wait for them to be served. We noticed other tables having to ask for their drinks when their food was brought out. Once seated everything was great, food was absolutely delicious. We had the Korean chicken strips as a starter and the fish and chips and Jamaican chicken burger for mains. We continued to notice tables waiting a long time to be cleared and lots having to ask for the bill. One waitress was good at looking busy but not actually...

Most of the staff are unfriendly portions are very small they hardly give you any chips or rice which are cheap enough a lot of the food is locally sourced which is good more often than not your waiting a long time to get served cocktail's are over priced with a small cocktail menu its fine for a lunch with friends or family but don't expect to be blown away by the quality of food they might have good chefs but they dont seem to put in the effort the boatshed next door is much better with a friendly atmosphere as staff make more of an effort with you and food is better place is starting to look dated like most of cala hotels never wanting to dip into there pockets...
